Roseanne's back!

The longtime source of comedy/controversy is set to make another return to television, Deadline reports. Barr has inked a deal to develop and star in a new sitcom for NBC, with Steven Greener also producing. The project will go into production later this spring.

It's been a big week for Barr: as reported yesterday, she is also set to drop in on the staff of Dunder-Mifflin during THE OFFICE's final season this spring. In the episode, Barr will portray talent agent 'Carla Fern, who agrees to help office manager Andy Bernard (Ed Helms) make his dream of being in show business come true.

Barr currently performs her stand-up comedy act in Las Vegas. She began her career in stand-up comedy at clubs before gaining fame for her role in the sitcom Roseanne. The show was a hit and lasted nine seasons, from 1988 to 1997. She won both an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her work on the show.

After her sitcom ended, she launched her own talk show, The Roseanne Show, which aired from 1998 to 2000. In 2005, she returned to stand-up comedy with a world tour. In 2011, she starred in an unscripted TV show, Roseanne's Nuts, that lasted from July to September of that year, about her life on a Hawaiian farm. Most recently, she developed DOWNWARDLY MOBILE, also for the peacock, which went to pilot. The network ultimately passed on the project.

Oh, and she also ran for President of the United States in 2012.
