Parents Television Council Wants Seth MacFarlane Banned From Future Oscars

The Parents Television Council is on a mission to ban 'Family Guy' creator Seth MacFarlane from any future Academy Award hosting gigs. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the group posted a petition urging the Academy not to invite the comedian back for a retun visit.

On its website, the PTC posted several clips from the Oscar broadcast along with a warning which reads, "Graphic content may be shown on the content and video tabs." Each clip is tagged with a different offense, such as "anti-Semitic," "sexist" and "orgy."

The petition reads: "Seth MacFarlane has build a career on programs that wallow in misogyny and anti-Semitism; joke about violence against women, rape, pedophilia, incest, and bestiality; and even ridiculing children with disabilities. Knowing this, the Academy still chose to invite MacFarlane to host the 2013 Academy Awards."

This is not the first time the TED creator has had run-ins with the PTC, yet he does not appearto take them very seriously. In a 2008 interview with the Advocate magazine, he equalted criticism from the PTC to "getting hate mail from Hitler... they can suck my d--k as far as I'm concerned."

The group is not the only advocate organization lodging complaints about last Sunday night's performance. Abraham Foxman, National Director of the Anti-Defamation League, said in a statement: 'While we have come to expect inappropriate "Jews control Hollywood" jokes from Seth MacFarlane, what he did at the Oscars was offensive and not remotely funny. It only reinforces stereotypes which legitimize anti-Semitism. It is sad and disheartening that the Oscars awards show sought to use anti-Jewish stereotypes for laughs.'

In addition, two California state legislators, Hannah-Beth Jackson and Bonnie Lowenthal, both Democrats, wrote a letter to AMPAS president Hawk Koch saying, in part, that MacFarlane's performance during the Oscar telecast "reduced our finest female actresses to caricatures and stereotypes, degrading women as a whole and the filmmaking industry itself."
