PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4 won the domestic box office this weekend, taking in about $30.2 million. However, in comparison to its predecessors, PARANORMAL may not hold its terrifying grasp on audiences any longer. PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3 took in 42 percent more than ACTIVITY 4 last year.

ARGO (Warner Brothers) came in second, nabbing approximately $16.6 million, for a total of $43.2 million, since it opened last weekend. Sony's HOTEL TRANSYLANIA came in third with $13.5 million, TAKEN 2 in fourth with $13.4, and Alex Cross in fifth with $11.8 million.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4 is directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, the directors of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3, and written by Zack Estrin. The film features Katie Featherston, who has starred in all three previous films. It is the fourth film in the Paranormal Activity film series and a sequel to Paranormal Activity 2, picking up a few years after where it left off.
