Nigel Gaines Named CFO of BBC America

BBC Worldwide NORTH AMERICA today announced Nigel Gaines has been promoted to Chief Financial Officer effective immediately. Gaines was previously SVP Finance.

In his new role, Gaines is responsible for overseeing all financial operations for BBC Worldwide North America. Reporting to Herb Scannell, President, Gaines manages the company's financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, tax and risk management activities, and corporate financial strategy.

Scannell said, "Nigel has been a valued member of the team for several years. His experience and success leading financial operations makes him the perfect choice to take on this important role in shaping the future of our company."

Gaines has been a part of BBC Worldwide NORTH AMERICA since 2007 when he joined the company as Director, Finance for Channels. Following the successful implementation of an in-house ad sales team for BBC AMERICA, Gaines was promoted to VP Finance Channels and Digital, and in 2012 he took oversight of the TV Sales & Co-productions business. Prior to joining BBC Worldwide North America, Gaines held positions at Citipost Corporation as CFO and at Royal Mail International where he was Head of FP&A. He is a Chartered Management Accountant, and attended University of Aston, Birmingham where he graduated with a degree in Managerial & Administrative Studies.

BBC Worldwide NORTH AMERICA is part of BBC Worldwide, the main commercial arm and a wholly-owned subsidiary of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). In the U.S. and Canada the company operates cable channels, BBC Worldwide Productions, BBC Consumer Products, BBC.com and BBC Worldwide Sales & Co-productions. Under these businesses fall two key brands in the U.S. - digital cable channel BBC America with programs Doctor Who, Top Gear and Orphan Black, as well as smash hit Dancing with the Stars made by BBC Worldwide Productions.
