Best friends Matt and Matt not only share the same name, but also share a passion for beignets which they hope to transform into a broader, successful culinary concept. These two teams will Face Off to prove that they have what it takes to win over the hungry residents of Traverse City, Mich.
PRIMETIME PREMIERE EPISODES
Premiering Sunday, February 2nd at 9pm - "Pizza Perfect"
The chefs learn they will be expected to make a pizza-perfect meal. In the first round, one of the competitors takes a loose interpretation of the theme. Then, some unusual toppings must make their way onto the entrée pizzas. The finalists must make pizza for dessert with candied mushrooms and salted caramel sauce.
Judges:Bruno DiFabio, Amanda Freitag, Alex Guarnaschelli
Premiering Sunday, February 9th at 9pm - "All Burger Meal"
The chefs learn that they will be making hamburgers in some shape or form for every round, starting with veal burgers for appetizers. Then, in the entrée round a little quail egg causes a big headache for some of the competitors. The competitors do not know what to make of a dessert burger, and only one walks away a champion.
Judges:Spike Mendelsohn, Amanda Freitag, Alex Guarnaschelli
Premiering Tuesday, February 11th at 10pm - "Chocolate"
With chocolate in every basket of this themed competition, the chefs must figure out how to make this perennial dessert favorite work in the first two, savory courses. Then, the two competitors who make it to the end must find a way to combine two chocolate ingredients with cherries and a German layer cake.
Judges:Maneet Chauhan, Christina Tosi, Aarón Sánchez
Premiering Sunday, February 16th at 9pm - "Bacon Baskets"
The chefs get some great news before the cooking begins: bacon will be in every basket! In the first one, they find Mangalista bacon and apple chips. Then in the second round, the judges watch to see if the competitors will be able to make dried cherries work with their pork entrees. French toast and bacon are a breakfast classic, but can the final two chefs manage to transform these mystery ingredients into dessert?
Judges: Scott Conant, Amanda Freitag, Adam Sobel
Premiering Sunday, February 23rd at 9pm - "Beer Here"
Chopped brews up some serious competition as all three rounds are devoted to beer. For their appetizers, the four chefs must make sausages work with toasted lager. A tasty triple ale is the beer in the basket for the entrée round. In the final round, the iconic beer and pretzel combination must be made delicious in dessert form.
Judges:Scott Conant, Chris Santos, Greg Koch
Premiering Tuesday, February 25th at 10pm - "Return and Redeem"
Four chefs who lost in previous competitions return, wanting the win more than ever. A bright green dessert and a seafood snack must be worked into the competitors' appetizers. Thursday, February 13th at 9pm - "The Trouble with Tuile"
Chefs squabble for first place in the appetizer round, and chemistry finds its way into the kitchen. A creative use of rambutan sets one chef apart from the rest in the entrée round. Will experience trump ingenuity when it comes to incorporating radishes and feta cheese in a show-stopping dessert?
Thursday, February 20th at 9pm - "Clams, Lamb Thank You Ma'am"
Clams prove surprisingly difficult in the first round for these four chefs. Kimchi strikes a tangy note in the entrée round, but a bold use of this one ingredient cannot make up for the quality of others. Durian for dessert is a welcome, but stinky challenge for two chefs whose inventiveness knows no bounds.

Premiering Sunday, February 23rd at 10pm - "Gluttons for Punishment"
Four chefs return to Cutthroat Kitchen for more punishment and a second chance to outsmart and out-cook their competition. Things start off with a blend when a chef gets to pulverize one competitor's hot dogs in a food processor. Then, one chef goes back to science class when they are forced to cook carbonara with a chemistry set. Finally, it is anything but a day at the fair when Alton hands a chef a cotton candy machine to use as sugar for their brownies.
