NIGHTLINE Draws Biggest Overall Audience Yet

With its late-night lineup of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" at 11:35 p.m. and "Nightline" at 12:35 a.m., ABC won the second full week of the May 2013 sweep (week of 5/6/13) in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49. The Net was up for the 2nd consecutive week in both Total Viewers (+7% - 2.318 million vs. 2.175 million) and Adults 18-49 (+7% - 773,000 vs. 721,000).

Beating The Combined wins of CBS (5) and NBC (3), ABC was the most-watched network in late-night for the 10th time in 18 weeks with its new lineup. During the week, ABC (2.318 million) topped NBC (2.199 million) by 5% in Total Viewers and increased its advantage over CBS (1.983 million) to 17% (versus 3% the prior week).

Winning late-night in 15 of 18 weeks with its new lineup, ABC stood as the No. 1 network in late-night once again in Adults 18-49 (773,000), edging out NBC (761,000) by 2% and nearly doubling its lead over CBS (+28% - 606,000) versus the prior week (+15%).

"Jimmy Kimmel Live" (M-F 11:35 p.m.)
During the week of May 6, 2013, ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" posted its 2nd straight week of gains in both Total Viewers (+4% - 2.572 million vs. 2.471 million) and Adults 18-49 (+5% - 863,000 vs. 820,000). "JKL" was also up over its performance on the same week last year (1.936 million and 715,000 on w/o 5/7/12) for the 18th time in as many weeks since moving to 11:35 p.m. in both viewers (+33%) and young adults (+21%).

Despite airing a repeat telecast on Friday, ABC's "JKL" topped a week of all original episodes of CBS' "The Late Show with David Letterman" for the 3rd week in a row in Adults 18-49 (+16% - 863,000 vs. 746,000). In fact, this week marked the ABC program's 6th win in 7 weeks over "The Late Show" with young adults. In addition, Friday's repeat telecast of "JKL" outperformed an original telecast of "The Late Show" by 45% in Adults 18-49 (902,000 vs. 624,000).

"Nightline" (M-F 12:35 a.m.)
ABC News' "Nightline" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (1.779 million) during the second full week of the 2013 May sweep, according to Nielsen Media Research, for the week of May 6, 2013. "Nightline" led CBS' "The Late Late Show" by +476,000 viewers (1.303 million) and NBC's "Late Night" by +11,000 viewers (1.768 million). Further, "Nightline" beat the CBS program by its largest Total Viewer margin to-date.

"Nightline" attracted its largest overall audience ever in its new 12:35 a.m. time period (premiered on w/o 1/7/13). In fact, the ABC late-night program drew ABC's largest overall audience in the time slot in nearly 6 months - since w/o 11/26/12.

For the 2nd week in a row, "Nightline" improved on the prior week in all key target demos: Total Viewers (+14%), Adults 25-54 (+4%) and Adults 18-49 (+14%) - 1.558 million, 690,000 and 512,000 respectively, on w/o 4/29/13.

On Thursday (5/9/13), "Nightline" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 (2.010 million, 795,000 and 721,000) versus CBS' "The Late Late Show" (1.553 million, 750,000 and 575,000) and NBC's "Late Night" (1.659 million, 730,000 and 640,000). In fact, "Nightline's" Thursday telecast stands as its 3rd-most-watched since moving to its new time period.
