The Dec. 6 telecast of THIS IS US has generated series-high results in "live plus three day" results from Nielsen Media Research, scoring a best-yet 4.49 rating in adults 18-49 and 15.4 million viewers overall.

The Dec. 6 episode also delivered the second biggest L+3 lift ever for a Tuesday telecast on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and the biggest L+3 lift ever for a Big 4 Tuesday show in total viewers.

The 4.49 rating in 18-49 tops the prior "This Is Us" L+3 record, a 4.22 set on Oct. 11, and the 15.4 million beats the previous total-viewer record set one week earlier of 14.4 million for the Nov. 29 telecast.

In 18-49, the Dec. 6 episode generated an L+3 lift of +1.67 points, second biggest ever for a Tuesday Big 4 series (in records dating back to January 2007), behind only the +1.78 for the Sept. 24, 2013 series debut of ABC's "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

The total-viewer lift of +4.426 million is the highest ever for a Tuesday series on the Big 4 networks.

In "live plus same day" Nielsens, the Dec. 6 "This Is Us" fall finale had registered a next-day 2.82 in 18-49 and 10.949 million viewers overall. The 2.82 was second-best for "This Is Us" to date, behind a 2.85 for the season premiere (and it tied for a season high in rounded ratings, with the 2.8 matching the show's first and third episodes). The 10.949 million viewers was a new series record in L+SD.

Note that in L+SD results, the Dec. 6 "Us" beat the same week's episode of Fox's "Empire" for the first time in 18-49 (2.82 vs. "Empire's" 2.47) and has now increased the gap in L+3 (4.49 vs. 3.51). In L+3, it's the second time "Us" has beaten that week's "Empire," after scoring a first L+3 win the prior week (4.16 vs. 4.03).

For the first time, "This Is Us" won the total-viewer race in its Tuesday 9-10 p.m. time period versus CBS' "Bull" in L+3, with 15.374 million vs. 14.842 million), overcoming a L+SD deficit (10.949 million for "Us" vs. 11.675 million for "Bull"). During premiere week, "Bull" debuted in the 9 p.m. hour with 19.420 million viewers in L+3 and "This Is Us" premiered at 10 p.m. with a L+3 result of 13.530 million viewers.

In results for Monday, Dec. 5 telecasts, NBC's "Timeless" generated the biggest L+3 lifts of the night on the Big 4 networks in 18-49 rating (+0.62, going from a 1.16 to a 1.78) and total viewers (+2.255 million, from 5.075 million to 7.330 million) going from L+SD to L+3.
