NBC's THE VOICE Delivers Two of the Top Four 18-49 Ratings

"The Voice" has generated two of the top four ratings on the Big 4 networks for the primetime week of March 16-22 in adults 18-49 and most other key measures. For the week, NBC averaged a 1.4 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49 and 6.1 million viewers overall, according to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

Joining "The Voice" among the week's top 25 primetime programs on the Big 4 in 18-49 are Tuesday's season premiere of "Undateable" (tied for #10), Thursday's "The Blacklist" (tied for #13), Tuesday's debut of "One Big Happy" (tied for #21) and Tuesday's "Chicago Fire" (tied for #21).

In addition to accounting for two of the week's top four primetime Big 4 ratings in adults 18-49, "The Voice" delivered two of the top four results in adults, men and women 25-54, men and women 18-49, adults 18-34, teens 12-17 and kids 2-11. In total viewers, "The Voice" accounted for two of the week's top five primetime results.

For the 2014-15 season to date, NBC ranks #1 or tied for #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 as well as adults, men and women 18-34, men and women 18-49 and women 25-54.

In total viewers, NBC is #2 for the season, and running within 8% of its year-ago Olympics-boosted average (9.2 million vs. 10.0 million), making this season and last NBC's two top-scoring seasons in total viewers at this point since the 2006-07 season. This is the second year in a row NBC has ranked #2 in total viewers at this point in the season, marking first two times since 2003-04 that NBC has ranked as high as #2 in total viewers at this point.

Primetime averages for the week of March 16-22 in adults 18-49 are: Fox, 1.8/6; CBS, 1.5/5; NBC, 1.4/5; ABC, 1.4/4; and CW, 0.6/2. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: CBS, 7.2 million; ABC, 6.3 million; NBC, 6.1 million; Fox, 5.3 million; and CW, 1.7 million.

"Most current" averages for the season to date are: NBC, 2.6/8; CBS, 2.4/8; ABC, 2.2/7; Fox, 2.1/7; and CW, 0.8/3. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 11.5 million; NBC, 9.2 million; ABC, 7.9 million; Fox, 6.2 million; and CW, 2.1 million.

NBC highlights for the week of March 16-22:

Monday

NBC won Monday in 18-49 with the #1 show of the night, "The Voice."

"The Voice" (3.4/11 in 18-49, 12.6 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) ranked as the #1 show of the night by a +62% margin in adults 18-49 (3.2 vs. 2.1 for the #2 show, ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" season premiere). "The Voice" was the #1 Big 4 show of the night in all key demographics and topped the "Dancing" season premiere head to head from 8-10 p.m. in every key demo. "The Voice" grew dramatically through the two-hour time period, increasing by 0.8 of a point or +28% from its first half-hour to its fourth (2.9 to 3.7), stretching its lead over "Dancing" from 0.9 of a point from 8-8:30 to 1.6 from 9:30-10.

"Live Plus Three Day" Ratings: "The Voice" grew by +20% in 18-49 rating going from "live plus same day" to "live plus three day" Nielsens (from a 3.37 rating to a 4.05) and by more than 1.8 million viewers overall (from 12.6 million to 14.4 million).

"Live Plus Seven Day" Ratings: Season to date, first-run editions of Monday's "Voice" have grown in L+7 vs. L+SD by +26% in 18-49 rating (from a 3.43 to a 4.31) and 2.2 million viewers overall (12.2 million to 14.4 million).

Upscale: "The Voice" was the night's most upscale show on the Big 4, indexing at 132 among in adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes (100 represents an average concentration of those homes, L+SD).

"The Night Shift" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) maintained its full 18-49 rating week to week. "The Night Shift" tied for #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-34 and men 18-49 and finished #1 outright among those nets in men 18-34. L+3: "The Night Shift" grew by +31% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.35 to 1.76). In total viewers, "Night Shift" grew by 1.3 million persons (from 5.4 million to 6.7 million). L+7: "The Night Shift" increased last summer by +40% going from L+SD to L+7 in 18-49 (from a 1.36 rating to a 1.90) and more than 1.9 million viewers overall (from 6.6 million to 8.5 million).

Tuesday

NBC won Tuesday night among the Big 4 in every key measure, with "The Voice" the #1 show of the night on those nets in all key categories. NBC led in adults 18-49 among the Big 4 for six of six half-hours.

"The Voice" (3.2/11 in 18-49, 12.8 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) dominated the time period among the Big 4 in all key measures and ranks as the #1 show of the night on those nets in every key category. "TheVoice" grew dramatically from its first-half-hour to its second, up 0.7 of a point or +24% (2.9 to 3.6).

L+3: "The Voice" increased by +22% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (3.22 to 3.93). In total viewers, "The Voice" grew by 2.0 million persons (from 12.8 million to 14.8 million). L+7: Originals of Tuesday's "Voice" have grown by an average of +24% in 18-49 rating this season (from a 3.40 to a 4.22) and 2.1 million viewers overall (12.6 million to 14.7 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "The Voice" was Tuesday night's second most upscale primetime telecast on the Big 4 in L+SD, indexing at a 106 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes (100 represents an average concentration of those homes), trailing only the 109 of "One Big Happy" among Big 4 programs that night.

The second season premiere of "Undateable" (1.9/6 in 18-49, 6.4 million viewers overall from 9-9:30 p.m. ET) set series records, jumping +46% versus last season's series debut in 18-49 (1.3 at 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2014) and +67% in total viewers (6.4 million vs. 3.8 million). "Undateable" also more than doubled its 0.9 average from last summer in 18-49 and its 2.8 million average in total viewers. Versus NBC's season-to-date average in the time period, excluding "The Voice" (1.1 in 18-49, 3.774 million viewers overall, L+SD), "Undateable" improved the slot by +73% in 18-49 and +70% in total viewers. "Undateable" won the slot among the Big 4 in adults 18-49 and most other key demographics. L+3: "Undateable" grew by +14% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.92 to 2.18). In total viewers, "Undateable" grew by 587,000 persons (from 6.4 million to 7.0 million).

The debut of "One Big Happy" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 5.5 million viewers overall from 9:30-10 p.m. ET) retained 84% of its lead-in from "Undateable" in 18-49 and 85% in total viewers. "One Big Happy" won the slot among the Big 4 in adults 18-49 and other key demos. "One Big Happy" improved the slot by +60% versus NBC's season average, excluding "The Voice" in 18-49 (1.0) and by +56% in total viewers (5.551 million vs. 3.558 million). L+3: "One Big Happy" increased by +18% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.65 to 1.94). In total viewers, "One Big Happy" increased by 737,000 persons (from 5.5 million to 6.2 million). Upscale: "One Big Happy" was the night's most upscale primetime telecast on the Big 4 in L+SD, indexing at a 109 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes (100 represents an average concentration of those homes).

"Chicago Fire" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 7.0 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) wasup +14% in 18-49 versus its most recent episode to air with no "Voice" lead-in (1.4 on Feb. 17) and was up +11% in total viewers (7.0 million vs. 6.3 million). "Chicago Fire" won the slot among ABC, CBS and NBC in all key measures. "Chicago Fire" retained 100% of its 18-49 lead-in and built on its total-viewer lead-in by +27%. L+3: "Chicago Fire" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +53% in 18-49 rating (2.59 to 2.43) and more than 2.8 million persons (7.0 million to 9.7 million). L+7: "Chicago Fire" first-runs have increased by an average +60% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.87 to a 3.00) and 3.5 million viewers overall (7.5 million to 11.0 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Wednesday

An encore telecast of "The Mysteries of Laura" (0.6/2 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) matched its week-ago rating in men 18-34 (0.3) and grew week to week in men 25-54 (0.7 vs. 0.6) despite special competition this week from Fox's "Empire.".

A rebroadcast of "Law & Order: SVU" (0.8/2 in 18-49, 4.8 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) grew +14% versus the prior week in adult 18-49 rating (0.8 vs. 0.7) and was up +31% in total viewers (4.8 million vs. 3.7 million). It was the most-watched rebroadcast of "Law & Order: SVU" since April 16, 2014 (5.1 million).

An encore telecast of "Chicago P.D." (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) maintained or increased its rating from half-hour to half-hour in every key measure, despite the 10 p.m. hour. "Chicago P.D." grew +8% in adults 25-54 from its first half-hour to its second (1.2 to 1.3), +10% in men 25-54 (1.0 to 1.1) and +7% in women 25-54 (1.4 to 1.5).

Thursday

"Dateline NBC" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 6.5 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) grew +33% week to week in 18-49 (1.2 vs. 0.9) and +43% or 2.0 million persons in total viewers (6.5 million vs. 4.5 million). "Dateline NBC" delivered the network's top 18-49 rating in the slot since Jan. 31 (1.3 with the "Biggest Loser" season finale). It was also NBC's most-watched hour of regularly scheduled programing in the Thursday 8-9 p.m. time period in six years (since "My Name is Earl" and the premiere of "Kath & Kim," Oct. 9, 2008, 7.4 million). L+3: The previous week's "Dateline" increased in L+3 vs. L+SD by +12% in 18-49 rating (0.86 to 0.96) and in total viewers by 448,000 persons (4.5 million to 4.9 million).

"The Blacklist" (1.8/6 in 18-49, 8.6 million viewers overall from 9-10:01 p.m. ET) grew by +6% week to week in 18-49 (1.8 vs. 1.7) and by +15% in total viewers (8.6 million vs. 7.5 million), to deliver a six-week high in total viewers (best since its first Thursday telecast Feb. 5, 10.1 million). "The Blacklist" finished within 0.6 of a rating point in 18-49 of ABC's "Scandal" in the time period, its closest finish yet to "Scandal" since moving to Thursday nights on Feb. 5. "Blacklist" has narrowed the gap between itself and "Scandal" during their last three head-to-head airings in a row, to reduce the gap from 1.6 of a point on Feb. 19 to 0.6 last night. This week's "Blacklist" built by +50% on its lead-in in 18-49 and by +33% in total viewers.

L+3: The prior week's "Blacklist" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +74% in 18-49 rating (1.75 to 3.05) and in total viewers by 4.4 million persons (7.5 million to 11.9 million), the biggest increases on the night in both measures among Big 4 primetime programs. "The Blacklist" jumped from the #8 show of the night on the Big 4 in total viewers in L+SD to the #2 show in L+3 (and #1 drama). L+7: This season, originals of "The Blacklist" are increasing by an average of +66% in 18-49 rating (from a 2.81 to a 4.66) and 5.9 million viewers overall (10.6 million to 16.5 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "The Blacklist" has been a strong upscale performer, delivering a 140 index of adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes ("most current" including L+3, with 100 representing an average concentration of those homes)..

"The Slap" (0.7/2 in 18-49, 3.2 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) grew by +17% or 0.1 of a rating point week to week in 18-49 (0.7 vs. 0.6) and by +16% in total viewers (3.2 million vs. 2.7 million). L+3: The previous week's "Slap" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +51% in 18-49 rating (0.57 to 0.86) and in total viewers by 1.0 million persons (2.7 million to 3.7 million). L+7: "The Slap" growing by an average of +45% in 18-49 rating (from a 0.86 to a 1.25) and 1.3 million viewers overall (4.2 million to 5.5 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "The Slap" has been a solid upscale attraction, delivering a 116 index of adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes ("most current" including L+3, with 100 representing an average concentration of those homes).

Friday

"Grimm" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 4.8 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) maintained 100% of the rating for its prior original in 18-49 (1.1 vs. 1.1 at 9 p.m. on Feb. 13), despite moving to the lower-viewership 8-9 p.m. ET hour and despite this week's NCAA basketball competition. With its first original telecast in five weeks, "Grimm" tied for #1 in the time period on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49. L+7: "Grimm" first-runs are growing by an average of +86% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.23 to a 2.29) and more than 2.7 million viewers overall (5.0 million to 7.7 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Dateline NBC" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 6.8 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) equaled its highest Friday 18-49 rating since Nov. 21 (1.5 from 8-9 p.m.) and delivered its top Friday total-viewer result since Dec. 12 (7.2 million from 8-9 p.m. ET). "Dateline" grew by +8% week to week in 18-49 (1.3 vs. 1.2) and by +22% or 1.2 million persons in total viewers (6.8 million vs. 5.6 million). "Dateline" was the night's #1 newsmagazine in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers.

L+3: The prior week's "Dateline" on March 6 grew by +20% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.25 to a 1.50) and 819,000 viewers overall (5.6 million to 6.4 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: Friday's "Dateline" is increasing by an average of +24% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.24 to a 1.54) and 941,000 viewers overall (6.2 million to 7.1 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Saturday

The 2011 movie "Fast Five" (0.7/3 in 18-49, 2.9 million viewers overall from 8-11 p.m. ET) made NBC the top non-sports network among the Big 4 for the night in adults 18-49. NBC was also #1 or tied for #1 for the night among the Big 4, excluding NCAA basketball-boosted CBS, in adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and all key adult-male demos. From its first half-hour to its sixth, "Fast Five" grew by +80% in adult 18-49 rating (0.5 to 0.9), +37% in total viewers (2.5 million to 3.5 million) and +133% in adults 18-34 (0.3 to 0.7).

Sunday

An encore telecast of "The Voice" (0.8/2 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall from 7-9 p.m. ET) grew versus the prior week by +6% in total viewers (3.598 million vs. 3.380 million). This week's "Voice" rebroadcast increased by +67% from its first half-hour to its fourth in adult 18-49 rating (0.6 to 1.0) and by +54% or 1.6 million persons in total viewers (2.9 million to 4.5 million).

"Dateline NBC" (1.2/3 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) grew +33% versus the prior week in adults 18-49 (1.2 vs. 0.9) and was up +50% versus two weeks ago (0.8 on March 8). "Dateline" reported its highest Sunday rating since Jan. 25 (1.2 from 7-8 p.m.) and equaled its Sunday high since Jan. 4 (1.3 from 7-9 p.m.). In total viewers, "Dateline" was up +6% versus the previous week (5.4 million vs. 5.1 million) and up +45% versus two weeks ago (3.7 million on March 8), to its biggest Sunday audience since Feb. 8 (5.7 million from 7-8 p.m.).

For its second hour from 10-11 p.m., "Dateline NBC" ranked #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and other key demos.
