NBC's THE VOICE Delivers Two of Top 4 Primetime Ratings for Week

NBC has finished within 0.1 of a rating point of #1 for the primetime week of Feb. 23-March 1, averaging a 1.6 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49 and 6.4 million viewers overall, according to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

The Monday and Tuesday premieres of "The Voice" accounted for two of the week's top four primetime telecasts on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, as well as total viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-34. In 18-49, those two "Voice" editions ranked #3 and #4 for the week. "The Voice" also delivered two the week's top three ratings in women 18-49 and women 25-54.

For the 2014-15 season to date, NBC ranks #1 or tied for #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and all other key demographics.

In total viewers, NBC is #2 for the season, and running within 9% of its year-ago Olympics-boosted average (9.4 million vs. 10.3 million), making this season and last NBC's two top-scoring seasons in total viewers at this point since the 2006-07 season. This is the second year in a row NBC has ranked #2 in total viewers at this point in the season, marking first two times since 2003-04 that NBC has ranked as high as #2 in total viewers at this point.

Primetime averages for the week of Feb. 23-March 1 in adults 18-49 are: Fox, 1.7/5; ABC, 1.7/5; NBC, 1.6/5; CBS, 1.6/5; and CW, 0.4/1. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: CBS, 9.2 million; NBC, 6.4 million; ABC, 6.1 million; Fox, 5.0 million; and CW, 1.3 million.

"Most current" averages for the season to date are: NBC, 2.7/9; CBS, 2.4/8; ABC, 2.2/7; Fox, 2.1/6; and CW, 0.8/3. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 11.6 million; NBC, 9.4 million; ABC, 7.9 million; Fox, 6.1 million; and CW, 2.1 million.

NBC highlights for the week of Feb. 23-March 1:

Monday

"The Voice" (4.1/11 in 18-49, 14.0 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) matched its highest rating for a Monday or Tuesday edition since Monday, March 3, 2014 (4.5) and delivered its biggest overall audience since Tuesday, March 4, 2014 (14.5 million). "The Voice" returned to NBC's primetime schedule up +24% versus its fall finale in 18-49 (4.1 vs. 3.3 from 9-11 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014) and up +8% in total viewers (14.0 million vs. 12.9 million). "The Voice" equaled its prior premiere last fall in 18-49 (4.1 vs. 4.1 from 8-10 on Monday, Sept. 22, 2014) and was up +5% in total viewers (14.0 million vs. 13.2 million). "The Voice" was the #1 show of the night on the Big 4 in 18-49 by a +58% margin (4.1 vs. 2.6 for the #2 show, ABC's "Bachelor") and by a +31% advantage in total viewers (14.0 million vs. 10.7 million for the #2 show, CBS's "Scorpion").

"Live Plus Three Day" Ratings: "The Voice" grew by +22% in 18-49 rating going from "live plus same day" to "live plus three day" Nielsens (from a 4.06 rating to a 4.96) and by 2.4 million viewers overall (from 14.0 million to 16.4 million), for its most-watched episode in L+3 since Monday, March 3, 2014 (17.4 million)..

"Live Plus Seven Day" Ratings: First-run editions of Monday's "Voice" this season have grown by +25% in L+7 vs. L+SD in 18-49 rating (from a 3.35 to a 4.20) and more than 2.1 million viewers overall (11.9 million to 14.1 million). .

The second season debut of "The Night Shift" (1.5/4 in 18-49, 5.5 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) returned up +36% versus its season-one finale (1.5 vs. 1.1 from 10-11 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2014) to tie its #2 rating to date in 18-49. "The Night Shift" retained 94% of its series premiere, which is the show's highest rating to date (1.5 vs. 1.6 from 10-11 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014). This week's "Night Shift" finished within 0.1 of a point of the time-period lead in adults 18-49 and tied for #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in women 18-34. "The Night Shift" scored NBC's top 18-49 and total-viewer results in the slot since Dec. 15.

L+3: "The Night Shift" grew by +29% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.47 to 1.91), to its top L+3 rating since the show's series premiere on May 27, 2014 (2.05). In total viewers, "Night Shift grew by 1.4 million persons (from 5.5 million to 6.9 million). L+7: "The Night Shift" increased by +40% last summer going from L+SD to L+7 in 18-49 (from a 1.36 rating to a 1.90) and more than 1.9 million viewers overall (from 6.6 million to 8.5 million).

Tuesday

NBC won Tuesday night among the Big 4 networks in every key demo.

The Tuesday debut of "The Voice" (3.9/12 in 18-49, 14.1 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) grew +5% versus the year-ago Tuesday premiere (3.7 from 8-9:01 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014) and was up +8% in total viewers (14.1 million vs. 13.0 million). "The Voice" was also up +18% versus the show's fall finale in 18-49 (3.9 vs. 3.3 on Dec. 16, 2014) and up +9% in total viewers (14.1 million vs. 12.9 million). The Tuesday "Voice" was up +1% from Monday's premiere total-viewer result (14.1 million vs. 14.0 million), versus the year-ago 18% drop from Monday to Tuesday, for the biggest total-viewer increase from Monday debut to Tuesday debut in "Voice" history. This was the most-watched Tuesday edition of "The Voice" since March 4, 2014 (14.5 million viewers). "The Voice" was the #1 show of the night on the Big 4 in adults 18-49 by a +70% margin (3.9 vs. 2.3 for the #2 show, CBS's "NCIS").

L+3: "The Voice" increased by +22% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (3.90 to 4.74). In total viewers, "The Voice" grew by 2.2 million persons (from 14.1 million to 16.3 million), for its most-watched Tuesday telecast since the Spring 2013 season finale (16.9 million on June 18, 2013). L+7: Originals of Tuesday's "Voice" have grown by an average of +24% in 18-49 rating this season (from a 3.24 to a 4.02) and more than 1.9 million viewers overall (12.1 million to 14.0 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

The series finale of "Parks and Recreation" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) scored the show's highest 18-49 rating since Thursday, May 2, 2013 (1.6) and is the top total-viewer result since Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012 (4.3 million). Featuring guest appearances by Vice President Joe Biden, Rashida Jones, Rob Lowe, Kathryn Hahn and Christie Brinkley, the "Parks" finale jumped +45% in adults 18-49 versus the show's prior telecast (1.6 vs. 1.1 last week from 8:30-9) and up +68% in total viewers (4.1 million vs. 2.5 million). "Parks" grew by +60% versus the show's year-ago season finale (1.6 vs. 1.0 from 8-9 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 24, 2014) and was up +53% in total viewers (4.1 million vs. 2.7 million).

L+3: "Parks" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +35% in 18-49 rating (1.65 to 2.23) and more than 1.0 million persons (4.1 million to 5.2 million). L+7: The regular 8 p.m. edition of "Parks" has increased this season by +40% in 18-49 (from a 1.32 rating to a 1.85) and 884,000 viewers overall (3.5 million to 4.4 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Upscale: "Parks" has delivered a strong concentration of upscale viewers, indexing at a 147 for adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes with its 8 p.m. edition and 151 at 8:30 (100 represents an average concentration of those homes, "most current").

Wednesday

"The Mysteries of Laura" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 7.6 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) jumped +27% week to week in 18-49 (1.4 vs. 1.1) and by +30% or more than 1.7 million persons in total viewers (7.6 million vs. 5.9 million). Featuring guest star Eric McCormack ("Will & Grace"), this week's "Laura" captured the show's top rating since Nov. 19 (1.4) and equaled its high since Oct. 1 (1.5. "Laura" finished within 0.1 of the series record for a regular-slot telecast (1.5 on Sept. 24 and Oct. 1 during the first two weeks of the season). In total viewers, last night's episode was the show's most-watched since Dec. 10 (8.1 million). L+3: "Laura" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +24% in 18-49 rating (1.36 to 1.69) and in total viewers by more than 1.3 million persons (7.6 million to 9.0 million). L+7: "The Mysteries of Laura" originals are growing by +31% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.32 to a 1.73) and 1.8 million viewers overall (8.0 million to 9.8 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.6/4 in 18-49, 7.7 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) equaled its high 18-49 rating since Jan. 7 (1.7) and delivered its most-watched telecast since that same date (7.8 million). L+3: "SVU" increased in L+3 vs. L+SD by +51% in 18-49 rating (1.56 to 2.35) and in total viewers by 2.1 million persons (7.7 million to 9.8 million). L+7: "SVU" originals this season are increasing by an average of +69% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.66 a 2.81) and more than 2.9 million viewers overall (7.5 million to 10.5 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Chicago P.D." (1.5/5 in 18-49, 7.4 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) tied for #1 in the hour in adults 18-49 and ranked #1 outright in adults 25-54. "Chicago P.D." has now finished #1 or tied for #1 in the slot among the ABC-CBS-NBC dramas in adults 18-49 with nine of its last ten originals. Despite the 10 p.m. hour, "Chicago P.D." grew from half-hour to half-hour by +7% in adults 18-49 (1.5 to 1.6), +5% in adutls 25-54 (2.0 to 2.1) and +13% in men 25-54 (1.6 to 1.8). L+3: "Chicago P.D." grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +58% in 18-49 rating (1.53 to 2.42) and in total viewers by 2.7 million persons (7.4 million to 10.1 million). L+7: "Chicago P.D." originals are growing by an average of +69% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.60 to a 2.71) and 3.3 million viewers overall (7.2 million to 10.5 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Thursday

"The Slap" (0.7/2 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) equaled the prior week's women 18-49 rating (1.0 vs. 1.0) and grew +15% in women 25-54 (1.5 vs. 1.3), despite facing fierce competition in time period from CBS's "Big Bang Theory," ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and Fox's "American Idol." L+3: The prior week's "Slap" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +36% in 18-49 rating (0.83 to 1.13) and in total viewers by 1.0 million persons (4.0 million to 5.0 million). L+7: "The Slap" premiere on Feb. 12 grew by +42% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.11 to a 1.58) and 1.6 million viewers overall (5.1 million to 6.7 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "The Slap" has been a solid upscale attraction, delivering a 123 index of adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes ("most current" including L+3, with 100 representing an average concentration of those homes)..

"The Blacklist" (1.9/6 in 18-49, 8.0 million viewers overall from 9-10:01 p.m. ET) grew +12% week to week in adult 18-49 rating (1.9 vs. 1.7) and +4% in total viewers (8.0 million vs. 7.7 million), while building on this week's lead-in by +171% in 18-49 and +118% in total viewers. "The Blacklist scored its top 18-49 rating since Feb. 5, the night "Blacklist" made its Thursday debut (2.4) with the conclusion a two-parter started on the night of the Super Bowl. Despite special competition last night from the two-hour season finale of "How to Get Away With Murder," "Blacklist" grew week to week by +14% in adults 25-54 (2.5 vs. 2.2), +17% in men 25-54 (2.1 vs. 1.8) and +12% in women 25-54 (2.9 vs. 2.6).

L+3: The prior week's "Blacklist" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by a series-record +87% in 18-49 rating (1.72 to 3.21) and in total viewers by 4.8 million persons (7.7 million to 12.5 million), the biggest increase on the night among Big 4 primetime programs.

L+7: This season, originals of "The Blacklist" are increasing by an average of +61% in 18-49 rating (from a 3.09 to a 4.96) and more than 5.9 million viewers overall (11.4 million to 17.3 million) going from L+SD to L+7. The Feb. 12 telecast of "The Blacklist" grew by +109% in L+7 versus its L+SD rating in 18-49 (1.72 to 3.59), and cut the show's decline versus the prior week's Thursday premiere (which completed a two-parter started on SUPER BOWL Sunday) down to just a 10% drop (3.59 vs. 3.98) versus the 28% decline in L+SD (1.72 vs. 2.38).In total viewers, the Feb. 12 "Blacklist" increased by 5.995 million persons from L+SD to L+7, cutting the show's decline versus the prior week's Thursday debut down to just a 7% dropoff (14.187 million vs. 15.178 million) versus the 19% week-to-week decline in L+SD (8.192 million vs. 10.111 million).

Upscale: "The Blacklist" was the night's most upscale primetime telecast on the Big 4 in L+SD, indexing at a 126 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes (100 represents an average concentration of those homes).

"Allegiance" (0.8/2 in 18-49, 3.5 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) grew +6% week to week in total viewers (3.5 million vs. 3.3 million). L+3: The previous week's "Allegiance" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +38% in 18-49 rating (0.88 to 1.21) and in total viewers by more than 1.5 million persons (3.3 million to 4.9 million). L+7: "Allegiance" originals have grown by an average of +57% in 18-49 rating (from a 0.91 to a 1.43) and 2.2 million viewers overall (4.3 million to 6.5 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "Allegiance" delivers a strong concentration of upscale viewers, indexing at a 131 for adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes (100 represents an average concentration of those homes, "most current" including L+3).

Friday

An encore telecast of "The Night Shift" (0.5/2 in 18-49, 2.9 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) maintained its rating from half-hour to half-hour in adults 18-49 (0.5 vs. 0.5) and grew in women 18-49, adults 25-54, women 25-54 and adults, men and women 18-34.

"Dateline NBC" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 6.3 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) grew +20% versus its prior Friday telecast in adults 18-49 (1.2 vs. 1.0 on Feb. 13 from 10-11 p.m.), +29% in adults 25-54 (1.8 vs. 1.4) and +33% or 1.6 million persons in total viewers (6.3 million vs. 4.7 million) to report its highest Friday adult 18-49 rating since Jan. 30 (1.2 from 10-11 p.m.), top Friday adult 25-54 rating since Jan. 23(1.9 from 10-11 p.m.) and most-watched Friday telecast since Dec. 19 (6.8 million from 9-11 p.m.). For the 10:30-11 p.m. lead-in to local news, "Dateline" ranked #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults, men and women 18-49 and adults, men and women 25-54.

L+3: The prior "Dateline" on Feb. 13 grew by +34% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.04 to a 1.39) and more than 1.0 million viewers overall (4.7 million to 5.8 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: Friday's "Dateline" is increasing by an average of +24% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.23 to a 1.53) and 916,000 viewers overall (6.2 million to 7.1 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Saturday

NBC Sports coverage of New York Rangers-Philadelphia Flyers NHL Hockey (0.5/2 in 18-49, 1.4 million viewers overall from 8-11 p.m. ET) tied for #1 in primetime among the Big 4 networks in men 18-49 (with a 0.5 rating), ranked #1 outright among those nets in men 18-34 (0.3) and finished #2 in adults 18-49 (0.5).

Sunday

An encore telecast of "The Voice" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall from 7-9 p.m. ET) matched the highest 18-49 rating for a weekend "Voice" rebroadcast in nearly two years (since Sunday, March 31, 2013, 1.5 form 9-10 p.m.). "The Voice" grew by +88% from its first half-hour to its fourth in adults 18-49 (0.8 to 1.5) and +46% or 2.0 million persons in total viewers (4.3 million to 6.3 million)

"Dateline NBC" (0.9/2 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) equaled the 18-49 rating of its prior two Sunday telecasts.
