Robert F. KENNEDY Jr. tells NBC News' Matt Lauer, "Michael Skakel would not be in jail if people had not been able to call him 'Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel'" in an in-depth interview about Martha Moxley's murder. Skakel is accused of the 1975 murder of Moxley, a crime that made headlines across the nation. KENNEDY will address who he thinks committed the crime, his relationship with Skakel and his own personal investigation into the case during Dateline NBC's special "The Murder of Martha Moxley," airing this Friday at 10p/9c.

The one-hour special will focus on the latest developments in the case. In 2002, Skakel was convicted of Moxley's murder and spent 11 years in prison until his conviction was vacated in 2013. Moxley's mother Dorthy spoke about Skakel, telling Lauer, "We know who killed Martha. We proved it, and he was convicted and he was sent to jail." Later this year, six Connecticut Supreme Court judges will decide if the decision to overturn Skakel's conviction should be upheld.

The special also features interviews with key players and family members in the case, including: John Moxley, Martha Moxley's brother; Dorthy Moxley, Martha Moxley's mother; Chris Morano, former prosecutor; John Skakel, Michael Skakel's brother; David Skakel, Michael Skakel's brother; Hubert Santos, Michael Skakel's appellate attorney and Sarah Moylan, Michael Skakel's former classmate. The report also includes an interview with NBC News senior legal and investigative correspondent Cynthia McFadden, who has previously reported on the case.
