Known and loved by millions of families who have seen Monkey Monkey Music videos on over 100 PBS member stations nationwide, including NJTV and NYC-TV, Monkey Monkey Music with Meredith LeVande will bring their special brand of musical magic to the Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden, 421 E. 61st St., NYC, with a show at 6:00 p.m. tonight, June 26.

Meredith LeVande, who heads the dynamic project known as Monkey Monkey Music, is one of the few children's artists in the country who is regularly seen on television. Families want to know about the girl who pops up multiple times daily in music videos framing such iconic programs as Sesame Street and Curious George. The Mt. Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden show will provide a chance for kids and their grownups to get "up close and personal" with Meredith. She looks forward to greeting longtime Monkey Monkey Music fans and to meeting new fans who may have seen her videos on TV. Meredith hopes everyone will jump into action together, moving and singing along while counting odd numbers, playing "air guitar," grooving with fruits and vegetables "In the Garden," popping bubbles, and even doing the Macaroni Dance.

Monkey Monkey Music began in 2001 when educator/songwriter Meredith LeVande — acting on her perception that music engaged the whole child — began writing and performing songs that supported children's natural curiosity and desire to learn. Meredith is probably the most highly educated kids' musician performing today. She not only holds undergraduate degrees in Women's Studies and English (graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Rochester), she also has a master's degree in music and a law degree. Meredith draws from all these disciplines for her multi-faceted work with children in live performances, recordings, and music videos.

In spring 2011, blockbuster station KCET in Los Angeles became the first public television station to broadcast Monkey Monkey Music videos. New Jersey-based NJTV, owned and operated by WNET, the nation's largest PBS station, chose Monkey Monkey Music videos to launch its kids' programming. The American Forces Network, serving over a million military families in more than 175 countries, followed suit. Meredith's videos were chosen by Hawaiian Airlines for kids' in-flight entertainment. Station after station began airing Monkey Monkey Music videos, with programmers responding to the energy created by the special emotional connection Meredith LeVande shares with her audience.
