Meat Loaf, aka Marvin Lee Aday, mistakenly received quite a few congratulations for his supposed American Idol win this week after rocker Caleb Johnson was crowned season 13 champion on May 22.

Johnson had been comparing himself to Meat Loaf throughout the season, and apparently this was enough to confuse many Facebook and Twitter users.

Meat Loaf wrote on his Facebook page: "Some of you guys are funny. I've had a lot of congratulations messages and tweets for MY American Idol win!!!" He continued: "But jokes aside, let me take a second to really congratulate Caleb Johnson. It's great to see him tearing it up and putting some real rock 'n' roll back on prime time TV! Congratulations Caleb, GOOD LUCK and don't you ever stop rockin'!!!"

Johnson, 23, from Asheville, NC, emerged as America's top choice following an extremely close vote.

Upon winning the coveted title, Johnson sang his coronation song, "As Long As You Love Me". Next, Johnson will release his self-titled debut album, which is available now for pre-order on iTunes. Johnson will also embark on the American Idol Live! 2014 concert tour. The 41-show tour kicks off June 24.

Johnson joins past winners Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, David Cook, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Scotty McCreery, Phillip Phillips and Candice Glover.
