Savannah Guthrie sat down with actress, producer and writer Lena Dunham for an interview from the famed Saturday Night Live set in New York City. Dunham discussed her love for SNL, which she is hosting this weekend, and her hit television show, Girls. The interview airs today, March 7 on NBC's TODAY.
An excerpt from the interview follows: SAVANNAH GUTHRIE: Since you're kind of an aficionado of SNL - Are you walking in the writer's room and saying, "Okay, guys, I have some ideas for sketches. This is what we should do"? LENA DUNHAM: I asked Seth Meyers for advice, and he said that I should not give more than three sketch ideas. And I didn't want to be the person who shows up for the first day of school with, like, all their pencils sharpened, already knowing all the answers. Plus, I recognize that what these people do is such a specific skill, it's so different than what I do. So I don't even presume to think that my ideas would work. I pitched a couple of them to my boyfriend. He was like, "Those are-- I think you should maybe keep them in our house." He was like, "I get it, kind of, but maybe keep it here."Videos
