Black Coffee Productions has announced casting for Curbside Waltz. 13-year-old Tre' Jones will star as Toby and 9-year-old Olivia Chun will star as Melinda in the short film.

Jones is currently appearing as Young Simba in The Lion King on Broadway and has also been in the national tour production. Chun was a Royal Twin in the recent Lincoln Center Theatre production of The King and I.

Curbside Waltz tells the story of two kids whose imperfect upbringings have brought them together on a street curb in Brooklyn one afternoon. Although they initially seem innocent, it soon becomes clear that these are kids who have been forced to grow up too fast, dealing with parents who are often too absorbed in their own challenges to give their children the attention they deserve.

The film, with screenplay and music by Richie Kormos, will be directed by Lexy Vecchio and filmed in Queens, NY. The creative team also includes Ari Rudess (casting), Helen Laser (costume designer), Ashley Gerhardt (dramaturg). Georgina Simon serves as Executive Producer of the film.
