Hope Davis, best known for her role on IN TREATMENT, has landed the lead female role in CBS' upcoming political drama THE ORDAINED.

The project follows Tom (Charlie Cox), the son of a Kennedy-esque family who abandons the priesthood and enrolls in law school to prevent his sister - the mayor of New York City - from being assassinated. Garcia takes on the role of the firm's chief investigator.

Davis will play Tom's sister, Patricia/"Packy," the first-term mayor and mother of two. Her announcement that she'll run for a second term, as well as her deeply held belief to fight for what's right, causes those against her to make a plan to permanently silence her.

The actress joins Cox, Jorge Garcia, Tony award-winner Audra McDonald, JURASSIC PARK's Sam Neill, and ENTOURAGE's Emmanuelle Chriqui in the political thriller.

Lisa Takeuchi Cullen will write the script and executive produce along with Frank Marshall, Larry Shuman and A.B. Fischer. RJ Cutler will direct the pilot episode.

Davis most recently completed a stint on Aaron Sorkin's HBO drama THE NEWSROOM. She also appeared in THE SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP, portraying another respected female politico, Hillary Clinton.
