HGTV will premiere a second 13-episode arc of the hugely popular Flip or Flop tonight, April 8 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The series, which follows young flippers Tarek and Christina El Moussa as they Turn houses for a profit, attracted more than 9 million viewers P25-54 and delivered double-digit ratings growth in its time slot during its 2013 freshman run. In the second season, there will be many more nail-biting purchases at auction and challenging renovations for HGTV's newest breakout stars.

The new season kicks-off as Tarek and Christina purchase their first foreclosed home in Los Angeles. As interest in flipping foreclosed homes increases, the couple must cast a wider net to stay competitive. During the premiere episode, Tarek and Christina bid for a home they've carefully researched. They win the bid but, to their surprise, their quick flip turns into a major overhaul. With the original flooring, bathrooms and kitchen gutted and dismantled, they must redo the entire house and in the process learn that, when it comes to flipping houses, the old adage, "you have to spend money to make money" is very true.

"Flipping for profit is definitely a stressful, high-stakes and risky business," said Tarek. "No one should sign up for it if they're not prepared to face frequent frustration, obstacles and disappointment. It's not for the faint of heart, but nothing beats the satisfaction of a successful flip."

Fans have been anxious to see Tarek, a self-proclaimed "driven real estate genius" return in new episodes since his treatment for thyroid cancer. Early in 2013, a viewer, who also happened to be a registered nurse, spotted a lump on Tarek's neck during an episode and alerted him to seek life-saving medical treatment. While Tarek's health scare hasn't slowed him and Christina down, it has made them even more focused on their family and the impact their flipping ventures have on their personal lives.

"The cancer scare definitely put a different filter on things," said Christina. "In the end, though, Tarek and I thrive on life's challenges. We are going to keep doing this and we love that Flip or Flop allows us to share our experiences with viewers around the country."
