Grammy Winner Judith Hill Appears on Today's CBS THIS MORNING
GRAMMY winner Judith Hill will appear on "CBS This Morning" tomorrow, November 13. The acclaimed singer-songwriter will be interviewed by Gayle King. Hill just released her debut album, Back In Time (NPG Records), which she co-produced with multi-platinum icon Prince at Paisley Park Studios in Minneapolis.
Earlier this week, Hill performed at "Earth in Concert: Protecting the Planet Through Music" at Club Nokia in Los Angeles. The event, which also featured performances by Ziggy Marley and Dwight Yoakam, benefited the Global Wildlife Conservation and the GRAMMY Museum. Hill and her new band, which made its debut that evening, brought the house down. The overwhelming reaction has fueled plans for a national tour in early 2016 - and fans may even be treated to a few surprise shows before year's end. The band is made up of stellar musicians, including her mother, keyboardist Michiko Hill, who has played with Wayne Shorter, Rufus and Sly Stone, and her father, bassist Pee-Wee Hill, who has backed such artists as Billy Preston, Jimmy Smith and Sly Stone, guitarist Tony Maiden, and Saxophonist Marcus Anderson, who has played with NPG Hornz/Prince, Anthony Hamilton.
"'Back in Time'...firmly establishes Ms. Hill's own nostalgic vision of R&B," said The New York Times. Rolling Stone noted, "Back In Time has a vintage-soul feel, with jazz shadings and a powerful dose of post-Ferguson social commentary" while NPR said, "Back In Time represents the struggle of aspiring to heights unknown, with nothing to break your fall but a steadfast trust in a higher power."
