The E! show received an Emmy nomination this morning for the Best Short-Form Live Action Entertainment Program for its True Detective spoof. Watch the clip here!
Host Joel McHale took to Twitter to express his appreciation, writing, "Hey! @TheSoup--Nom'd for Emmy---Outstanding Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Program for our #TrueDetective bit. Thx @TelevisionAcad! In the parody clip, appropriately dubbed "Can Anyone Understand True Detective?," Joel McHale and The Soup team present their take on the HBO show starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Community's Jim Rash takes on the role of Detective Marty Hart while McHale does his best Detective Rust Cohle impression, rambling on in the most confusing-but utterly hilarious-manner (don't you just love Joel with a mustache?!).The comedy series will be going up against Between Two Ferns With Zach Galifianakis: President Barack Obama (FunnyOrDie.com), Children's Hospital (Adult Swim), Parks and Rec in Europe (NBC.com) and Super Bowl XLVIII Halftime Show Starring Bruno Mars (Fox). The winners for the 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced on Aug. 25, during a ceremony at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles.
