Entertainment Industry Trailblazer Anne Sweeney Honored by Girls Inc.

On Wednesday, November 20, Girls Inc., the nonprofit that inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold, will honor Anne Sweeney, Co-Chair, Disney Media Networks and President, Disney/ABC Television Group, at The Beverly Hills Hotel. Anne will be recognized for her outstanding achievements and for inspiring girls to realize their full potential.

At the event, Anne will be paired with Zhomontee Watson, a Girls Inc. National Scholar from Omaha. Both Anne and Zhomontee will share their stories of overcoming challenges to reach their goals, which for Zhomontee includes breaking stereotypes and avoiding substance abuse to receive a $20,000 college scholarship.

"As one of the most influential executives in the entertainment industry, Anne is a true visionary who has transformed TV content platforms and revolutionized the viewing experience," said Judy Vredenburgh, Girls Inc. President and CEO. "Anne has taken bold risks in utilizing new technologies and led the entertainment industry into the digital era. Anne's acumen, drive, and accomplishments are inspirational examples for all girls."

Anne joins three other extraordinary honorees: Giselle Fernández, Managing Director of Aspiration Growth Capital; Bonnie Hammer, Chairman of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, and Mindy Kaling, Creator, Executive Producer, and Writer of The Mindy Project.

The event is chaired by Cheryl Saban, Ph.D., Girls Inc. National Board member and Founder of Cheryl Saban's Self Worth Foundation for Women & Girls, Jennifer Salke, President, Entertainment for NBCUniversal, and Nina Tassler, President, CBS Entertainment. Girls Inc. National Board member, author, and Access Hollywood co-host Shaun Robinson is the host. The event supports Girls Inc. in expanding the reach of its educational programs for girls across the United States and Canada.
