Disney has cast Ed Oxenbould in the title role for its upcoming film adaptation of the classic 1972 children's book ALEXANDER AND THE TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY, according to Deadline.com.

Oxenbould will join previously cast Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner. The movie is directed by Miguel Arteta and will hit theaters on October 10, 2014. Shawn Levy and Dan Levine are producing via 21 Laps.

The book, written by Judith Viors, follows the story of a young boy, Alexander, who comes to realize that everyone is capable of having awful days - when he wishes his family would experience the same hurt he does.

Oxenbould has appeared in the short films The Amber Amulet and Julian, as well as the TV series Puberty Blues, Tricky Business and Underbelly.
