Tonight, April 4, Dr. Ben Carson will appear exclusively on TV One's live daily news program, News One Now, airing at 9:00 AM/ET. In a first, News One Now will devote the entire hour to Dr. Carson, who will be interviewed by managing editor and host Roland Martin and take viewer calls live on air.

Dr. Carson rose to prominence as the first neurosurgeon to successfully separate conjoined twins at the head. He has been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and is the author of six books including Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story which was made into a television movie starring Cuba Gooding, Jr.

Recently, Dr. Carson has received attention for his comments on social and fiscal issues. He is an outspoken opponent of the Affordable Care Act, calling it "the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery" in a speech delivered to the conservative Voter Values Summit in October of 2013. In a recent presidential straw poll held during the Northeast Republican Leadership Conference, Dr. Carson emerged in a surprising third place, prompting his supporters to rally behind him as a Republican candidate in the 2016 presidential election.

Remarked Martin, "For years, Dr. Ben Carson has been a hero in the eyes of many Americans, especially African Americans. His story growing up in Detroit and not excelling in school until he was admonished by his mom not to waste his life has been an inspiration to many. Yet his reputation has taken a huge hit as a result of his attacks on the Affordable Care Act; his incessant criticism of President Obama; and the revelation of his views as a right wing conservative." He continued, "At News One Now, we have not been afraid to showcase the views of Black conservatives. Black America is not monolithic and all viewpoints must be given a fair hearing. Our audience has wanted to understand why Carson thinks the way he does about a multitude of issues, and I am glad that he is willing to have an important discussion with the African American community, as well as take phone calls and social media questions from our audience."

A live feed of the broadcast will be available for press looking to secure clips from the interview and a transcript will also be available immediately following the broadcast.
