Daniel Dae Kim to Produce U.S. Adaptation of South Korean Medical Drama with CBS

According to Deadline, HAWAII FIVE-0 star Daniel Dae Kim will produce a U.S. adaptation of the hit South Korean medical drama GOOD DOCTOR for CBS.

Written by Adele Lim, the project will follow "how a brilliant doctor with Aspergers uses his [gooddoctor] special gift for solving complex cases at a Boston teaching hospital."

With his role on HAWAII FIVE-0, Daniel Dae Kim continues his string of multifaceted and stereotype-breaking roles. Prior to Five-0, Kim was best known for his role as Jin Soo Kwon on the hit TV series "Lost," for which he shared a 2006 Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Ensemble, and was individually honored with an AZN Asian Excellence Award, a Multicultural Prism Award and a Vanguard Award from the Korean American Coalition, all for Outstanding Performance by an Actor. In 2009, he was recognized with the prestigious KoreAm Journal Achievement Award in the field of Arts and Entertainment and also named one of PEOPLE Magazine's "Sexiest Men Alive." Most recently, he received the Influential Asian Artist Award from the San Diego Asian American Film Festival, as well as the Theater Legacy Award from New York's Pan Asian Repertory Theater. Recently, Kim served as Cultural Envoy and Member of the U.S. Presidential Delegation for the United States at the World Expo in Korea.

Born in Busan, South Korea, and raised in New York and Pennsylvania, Kim discovered acting while a student at Haverford College. After briefly considering a career as an attorney, he decided to follow his true passion and moved to New York City, where he began his work on stage performing in classics such as "Romeo and Juliet," "Ivanov" and "A Doll's House." Despite his early success, he decided to deepen his dedication to the craft by enrolling at New York University's Graduate Acting Program, where he earned a Master's Degree in Fine Arts. In June 2009 he rekindled his love for the stage by performing the role of the King of Siam in the iconic production, "The King and I," at London's world-renowned Royal Albert Hall.

Upon graduation, Kim's film career began in earnest with roles in "The Jackal," "For Love of the Game," "The Hulk," "Spider-Man 2" and "The Cave," as well as the Academy Award-winning "Crash." Kim is set to return to the big screen as Jack Kang in "The Divergent Series: Insurgent," the sequel to the hit film "Divergent."

On television, he has guest-starred on numerous shows, including "CSI," on the Network, "ER" and two seasons on "24" as CTU Agent Tom Baker. In 2008, he starred in the Emmy Award-nominated miniseries "The Andromeda Strain." Also, Kim lent his voice talents to video games, creating characters in "Saints Row" 1, 2 and 3, "Scarface: The World Is Yours," "Tenchu" and "24," as well as the animated television series "Justice League Unlimited" and "Avatar: The Legend of Korra."

In addition to his career onscreen, Kim recently expanded his industry work to include film and television producing with his company 3AD's first-look development deal with CBS Television Studios.

Though he spends time in Los Angeles and New York, Kim spends most of the year in Honolulu, Hawaii where he devotes his free time to his family and various charities.
