DOWN BY LOVE, writer/director Pierre Godeau's ("Juliette") scintillating and fascinating drama will open January 24, 2017 on all major VOD platforms in the United States, including iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, Comcast, Charter, and Vudu from Distrib Films US. "Down by Love" stars Adéle Exarchopoulos (Cannes Palme d'OR Winner, "Blue is the Warmest Color") who sizzles in this story of a young inmate who falls for her married prison director (Guillaume Gallienne, "Yves Saint Laurent," Cannes & Cesar Awards: "Le Garcons et Guillume A Table!"). "Down by Love" is based on true events that occurred in a Versailles prison in 2011, causing a national scandal.

We first meet Anna (Exarchopoulos) as she arrives at a Versailles prison to await her trial. Anna's crime is never revealed but was obviously serious and her guilt is never truly in question. Enter Jean (Gallienne), an ambitious, relatively young, and married Prison Director. Soon enough following a brief interview, he has begun to feel for Anna and, having given her a job keeping the books for the commissary and a conveniently private room to boot, an affair ignites between the two. However, this torrid affair will produce grave, and tragic consequences for all involved.

A mesmerizing true-life tale of FORBIDDEN love, "Down by Love" is Intense and Impressive! - The Hollywood Reporter, and a tour de force for Exarchopoulos and Gallienne, who are both superb.
