Breaking Glass Pictures is releasing the Indian Noir thriller SUNRISE, written and directed by one of India's most promising filmmakers Partho Sen-Gupta, in theaters and On Demand June 21, 2016. SUNRISE stars Adil Hussain (LIFE OF PI), Tannishtha Chatterjee, Ashalata Wabgaonkar, Gulnaaz Ansari, and Isha Amlani.

In this "intense, very well-performed tale" (Variety), director Partho Sen-Gupta explores the mental anguish of a lonely man on a quest for justice. SUNRISE made its North American premiere at Tribeca Film Festival in 2015. Twitch Film raved SUNRISE is "a BREATHLESS film noir that is burning with anger and bursting with style." SUNRISE also played at Busan International Film Festival, Mumbai International Film Festival, Munich International Film Festival, and Fantasia Film Festival.

Official Synopsis: Social Service officer Lakshman Joshi, played by Adil Hussain (Life of Pi), is led on a chase through the dark gutters and rain-soaked back alleys of Mumbai by a shadowy figure. His pursuit leads him to Paradise, a seedy nightclub seemingly at the center of the kidnapping ring he is investigating. Joshi's hunt brings back memories of his own kidnapped daughter, and as his investigation pushes forward his past and present reality begin to converge.

"Sunrise is such a unique film that blends a neo-noir aesthetic with elements of fantasy, all in an effort to shed light on the terrifying reality of sex trafficking. We hope that the film will help raise awareness of this horrible issue," says Michael Repsch, SVP of Distribution & Sales at Breaking Glass Pictures.
