Comedian Wanda Sykes To Host the 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards

Comedian and BLACK-ISH actress Wanda Sykes will take the stage as host for the 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles on April 12 at the Beverly Hilton, Deadline Reports.

"Wanda Sykes' humor, wit, and status as one of the most visible out women in Hollywood make her the perfect host for the 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles," said Sarah Kate Ellis, GLAAD President and CEO. Wanda Sykes is an American actress, comedian and writer. She was first recognized for her work as a writer on The Chris Rock Show, for which she won a Primetime Emmy Award in 1999. In 2004, Entertainment Weekly named Sykes as one of the 25 funniest people in America. She is also known for her role as Barb Baran on CBS' The New Adventures of Old Christine and for appearances on HBO's CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM. Aside from her television appearances, Sykes has also had a career in film, appearing in Monster-in-Law, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Evan Almighty and License to Wed, as well as voicing characters in the animated films Over the Hedge, Barnyard (2006), Brother Bear 2, Rio, Ice Age: Continental Drift and Ice Age: COLLISION COURSE.

Earlier this year, GLAAD announced 125 nominees in 21 English-language categories and 16 Spanish-language nominees in 4 categories.
