CBS SUNDAY MORNING WITH CHARLES OSGOOD heads to New Jersey for a special edition dedicated to the pleasures of summer to be broadcast today, July 28, 2013 (9:00 AM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Lee Cowan anchors the broadcast from a mansion overlooking the Navesink River in Rumson, N.J.

This summer-themed edition will feature Cowan's reports on two of the all-time summer greats: hamburgers and hot dogs.

"Everything about its identity is American," author and hamburger expert Josh Ozersky tells Cowan. "Its birth is American, its evolution is American, its economic life is American, its cultural life is American - it's almost more American than America itself. I mean, it represents America to the world in a way that George Washington doesn't."

Cowan reports that hamburgers are the most popular food in the country, with Americans eating on average a burger once every nine days. Americans will also eat 7 billion hot dogs between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Cowan notes.

Also on the broadcast, Mo Rocca reports on the boom in the highly detailed grooming habits of some men, known as "manscaping." For those looking for a good beach read, Rita Braver profiles prolific novelist Nora Roberts. Faith Salie reports on those pesky uninvited picnic guests - ants - and their role in the environment. Tracy Smith takes a peek upwards at some elaborate tree houses. Finally, Lee Cowan interviews singer-songwriter Adam Levine, who with his band Maroon 5 just kicked off a summer tour.

CBS SUNDAY MORNING is broadcast Sundays (9:00-10:30 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network. Rand Morrison is the executive producer.
