EW.com reports that Paramount Pictures is "likely to develop" a sequel to the zombie actionfest WORLD WAR Z starring Brad Pitt. A source revealed the news to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

The film, which is based on the the novel by Max Brooks was always planned as a trilogy for Pitt, who stars as Gerry Lane, a detective who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

The film, which also features Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale, Matthew Fox and David Morse, opened strongly at the box office, bringing in $66.4 million domestically and $45.8 million internationally. Reviews on the film have been generally positive.

While promoting the film internationally, Pitt commented, "We've got so many good story lines stemming from the book or inspired by the book and then just generated from our own powwows. It might still be fun. We've got enough material, that's for sure."
