Hello Stranger Friends, RED BAND SOCIETY's title this week was "Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire," however it could have easily been, "Love is in the Air," as Emma got closer to Jordi, Leo tried to win back Emma, Dash felt he was losing his bro-mance with Leo, and Dr. McAndrew slept with a patients mom.

Our cheerleader in need of a heart, both literally and figuratively, Kara, starts things off by getting on Nurse Jackson's bad side, trying to buy drugs. She then trys to win her over by complaining that her therapist tells her that she needs to work on making friends. Nurse Jackson soon finds out that the "friend" she has been making is a boy lying underneath Kara in bed. As she boots the boy out of the room, Nurse Jackson tells Kara that she will now be her new "sober buddy." What's that about getting what you asked for?

Emma is waiting for Jordi to wake up, and they discuss why Leo doesn't have all the family buzzing around, like after most surgery's at the hospital. Explaining again how he has never met his father, and his mother is dead, we also find out that the grandmother that he has been living with in Mexico is more prone to witch doctors and prayer than the medicine and hospital care. As Emma grabs Jordi's hand in support, Leo enters and we can see that jealousy rising again. After she leaves, Leo tells Jordi about their past relationship, and that he considers it unfinished, which is all news to Jordi.

Soon, Leo is offering to help Emma make Rice Crispy treats for Jordi, in hopes of rekindling their past relationship. As the two share a lingering silence while hiding beneath the counter from the staff when they sneak into the doctors lounge to make the treats.

Dash is trying to get Nurse Brittany to give him a pass out of the hospital so that he can take Leo to a concert. Brittany soon realizes that it is more about getting Leo away from his fast growing friendship with Jordi, as he feels his best-friend is not making any time for him since Jordi arrived.

Now it look's like it's going to get a little akward for Dr. McAndrew as we see the beautiful brunette he picked up at the bar last episode, walk out of the elevator. After a quick acknowledgement of the hook-up, he says how it is a little strange that she would track him down to work, only to find out that she isn't there to find him, but to find her son. Hello Jordi! What?? Yes, it looks like the brunette is Jordi's dead mother, who is looking quite good for her supposedly deceased condition. Turns out that she is only dead to him, as we get a two-sided flashback of a younger Jordi growing up with a card hustling mom who raised him on poker and tv dinners, then hustled off to her Mexican mother later on. Surprise!

As Dr. McAndrew tells Jordi how it is important, even helpful to his healing and recovery to have family around, Jordi and his mother go back to their old way of reconciling differences. It involves 52 playing cards and Jacks may or may not be wild, as they bet on emancipation or being a mom for her son again. Dash is relishing Jordi's big lie, and even is making a little money off of the situation by placing side bets with patients and staff on who will win the poker showdown.

Speaking of remembering things from different perspectives, we find that both Leo and Emma have differing opinions of why they broke up. Leo is sure that it is because he was impulsive, was afraid he was going to die, and didn't want to get close to anyone. Emma thinks that it is because Leo was impulsive, he was afraid he was going to live, that she could not live up to Leo's pretty blond co-ed dream girl.

Nurse Kenji enters the ladies restroom to find an upset Nurse Jackson trying to cool down and compose herself. She feels she let Kara down by not being even tougher on her, and realizing the mistake of letting her invite someone into her room as a friend. She also admits that her biggest fear is that her contempt for Kara will make her not be there for her if she ever really has an emergency. Kenji assures her that behind that gruff exterior, they both know what drives her to help these people and she would never let them down.

As the big poker game commences, it seems the whole RED BAND SOCIETY is there to find out who will prevail (except Charlie of course, poor lil Coma Boy has had a couple great commentaries this week, but all about other people's love; the "In Between" must be a lonely place). Jordi's mom goes all-in as Emma walks by to see the full house Jordi is holding. Jordi folds the winning hand, meaning that family wins out as his mom is going to be sticking around for a while at least.

After coming to the wrong conclusion of Leo just wanting to be friends as he appologizes to her on the rooftop for all the mistakes he has made in the past, Emma brings in the Rice Crispy treats as Jordi's mom is leaving his room for the night, with a big thumb's up for Jordi's new girlfriend. She also gives Dr. McAndrews a questionable/inviting kiss on the lips, on the way out the door.

Next week looks pretty exciting as our young cast gets some life outside of the hospital, but at what risk? It doesn't look like Nurse Jackson quite trusts Jordi's mom yet, and Dr. McAndrews may be a little too trusting of her.

Quotes of the Week:
"If your pee doesn't come back cleaner than a Mormon variety show."
Nurse Jackson telling Kara she must be off drugs to get on the heart transplant list.

"She's still pretty committed to the whole 'Demons in Your Leg' thing."
Dr. McAndrews telling Jordi about what his grandmother thinks about his cancer.

Questions of the Week:
Where was Griffin Dunne this week as our favorite "Hypocondriac Hippy?"
What was the life that Nurse Jackson turned down that Kenji said most people just dream about?
That's three parents down, Charlie, Kara and Jordi. Where are Leo's, Emma's and Dash's parents?

Look for myself to live-tweeting next week during the show, and be sure to comment below what you thought of this weeks episode. You can always tweet me at @leftofstr8 as well as send tweets here to @BWWTVWorld as well. Until next week Stranger Friends.
