This season is filled with "Did that really just happen" moments, but tonight's was definitely the topper. Who knew Eugene had it in him... to do... that? Yes, it was the bite felt around the world as Eugene finally comes through in a pinch.

As daily life is moving on in Alexandria, it is clear that it is docile, but filled with an air of melancholy. Sure, they've survived the Wolves and the herd and the Saviors (for now), but there is a high level of tension still among them.

Eugene and Abraham decide to go on walkabout as Eugene has an idea. He finds an abandoned garage (?) with machinery and tells Abraham of his plan to create bullets from scratch. Abraham commends him for thinking outside the box. When a walker appears, Eugene insists on handling it, but he cannot and Abraham saves him. The two fight about Eugene's competence and Eugene tells Abraham that he is of no use to him anymore as he can save himself. Abraham leaves him alone and tells him to find his own way home.

Doctor Denise brings a map to Daryl and Rosita and tells them she passed an apothecary on her way into Alexandria and she would like to go check it out. They are skeptical of her coming with them, but finally agree. When a tree blocks the road they are driving on, Denise advises taking the train tracks to the place, but Daryl insists on taking the road. Denise follows him, Rosita takes the track and gets there way quicker. Inside the apothecary, they find a pharmacy full of drugs, which they take with them, as Denise happens upon a back room where many children were killed, (I think? Not really sure what that whole room of horrors was). As they are walking back on the tracks, Denise finds a car with a cooler inside and she wants it. She is attacked by a walker and stops Rosita and Daryl from saving her as she wants to do it. She does and vomits. She lectures them on how she admires them and they have to remember how strong they are and she is tired of being afraid. Suddenly an arrow is shot through her eye and kills her... by DWIGHT, that D-Bag that stole Daryl's crossbow. He is followed by a gang who quickly force surrender upon Daryl and Rosita as they show them their prisoner; Eugene. Eugene sees Abraham lurking nearby waiting to attack and rats him out to Dwight. In the distraction, Eugene... not quite sure how to say this... bites him in the... um... crotchular region? (Not a word, but you get it.) The distraction works as Abraham, Daryl and Rosita are able to regain control. Dwight and a few remaining survivors retreat and take off as Daryl reclaims his crossbow. They get an injured Eugene back to the infirmary where I guess, Rosita treats him? He recovers and Abraham apologizes to him for doubting him. Abraham goes to Sasha to officially be with her. Carol, seeing a grief-stricken Daryl decides she can't take it anymore. She breaks it off with Tobin and everyone as she decides to leave Alexandria once and for all.

Now, there's no doctor in Alexandria. And poor Tara. I guess in hindsight when Denise didn't say she loved Tara, we knew something would happen, but still, that was harsh. Stupid Dwight, I knew we'd see him again and he's still alive? Looking forward to when Daryl finally catches up with him. Is Dwight with the Saviors or are they their own little terrorist gang?

I do find it interesting that the episode opened with Morgan building a prison and at the end it is Carol escaping Alexandria as she felt imprisoned. I'm guessing that wasn't a coincidence. Carol, gone? That can't be. Daryl will lose his mind.

And a whole episode without Jesus? I don't care for this. That's two weeks in a row, no Jesus. Only two to go, can you believe it? Will next week be when we finally meet Negan or are they truly saving that for the finale?

Here's a preview for next week's penultimate episode:
