ARROW loses his shirt and a few dangling plotlines on tonight's mid-season finale, "The Climb." Let's draw our bows and get you up to speed:

Oliver (aka ARROW, played by Stephen Amell) knows the perfect Christmas gift (and we aren't talking the gratuitous shirtless fight scenes; those come later). We begin tonight with ARROW giving Det. Lance (Paul Blackthorne) a criminal all wrapped up in a bow. Lance didn't know they were exchanging gifts this year and is regretably empty handed.

ARROW doesn't have to ponder too long on whether it truly is better to give than receive, though. The League of Assasins quickly descends. Much martial arts and sword play ensues. Ollie is knocked out and brought to Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law). It appears he's taking too long to bring Canary's killer to justice. They give him 48 hours. Find the killer or they will begin killing innocent citizens of Starling City. More specifically, Ollie's old Tokyo buddy Maseo (Karl Yune) will start killing folks.

At Sara's grave that used to be empty (but now really contains her body), Laurel (Katie Cassidy) tells Thea (Willa Holland) that Sara is really dead this time. Later in the episode, Laurel will tell her mom (Alex Kingston as Dinah Lance). Never tell Laurel a secret, folks.

At Queen Consolidated, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) is hoping her boss Ray (Brandon Routh) will forget about the kiss they shared. He wants to talk about it. Fortunately, Felicity gets a 911 call from Oliver and heads over to the Arrow cave.

In the first flashback of the night, Ollie and Maseo torturing someone for ARGUS.There's a deadly virus called OMEGA. One vial can wipe out an entire city.

Back in present day, Felicity catches up on the man in the yellow suit (see THE FLASH recap) online as Team Flash's Caitlin sends her the DNA results. It's Ollie's. Ollie is convinced he is being set up by Merlyn (John Barrowman).

Flashback two has Ollie and Maseo breaking into the biotech lab that's home to the OMEGA virus, but someone already took it.

Back in the present, Felicity has tracked down a flight schedule and it appears one did come in from Corto Maltese the night before Sara was murdered. Merlyn was on board, but he wasn't alone. Thea was with him.

The sluething is cut short as Ray is in the club upstairs, calling Felicity (he followed her there). They talk. He felt guilty about the kiss as his fiance was killed in the riots of last season and he vowed then never to love again.

Oliver confronts Thea and asks her is she flew in. She lies.

Flashback 3 has Oliver and Maseo tracking down the thief. More torture. Rinse. Lather. Repeat.

Back in the ARROW cave, Felicity tells Oliver he'll never get a straight answer asking Thea as Oliver. He returns to the apartment as ARROW. She fights him off and jumps off the balcony.

Merlyn confont Oliver at the club. He has sent Oliver a video. It clearly shows Thea killing Canary. Daddy Dearest drugged her. He tells Oliver to take the fall for the killing.

Which Oliver does. Before they pass sentence, Oliver invokes his right to trial by combat. He has to fight master Ra's al Ghul (Matt Nable). If he wins, he is pardoned.

Felicity corners Ray and gets him to finally show her what he has been working on: The A.T.O.M. suit (Ray will soon be doning the guise of THE ATOM!). He wants to protect the city and wants Felicity to help. Looks like Felicity is going to be moonlighting from Team ARROW.

Back on a mountaintop, ARROW loses his shirt and picks two swords. Ra's enters unarmed and with one hand behind his back. He soon has one of Oliver's swords. He plunges it straight through Oliver and kicks Oliver of the side of the mountain as Oliver sees his life flash before his eyes. Oliver Queen, it would appear, is dead.

And that's where we leave things off until Jan. 21. Great to see The A.T.O.M. suit and learn who killed Canary, but you can't really have a show without Ollie, so we all know he's not dead. Right?
