Renowned musician and filmmaker Adam Green today released Adam Green's Aladdin, an eccentric and humorously subversive take on the Classic Arabian Nights tale, in the United States and Canada. The movie will be released worldwide on May 12. Adam Green's Aladdin has been praised by both fans and press alike, being deemed "the stoner flick of century" by Inverse magazine and "the trippiest movie ever made" by Buzzfeed. Nylon magazine raved "the most insane movie of the year is also totally genius." The movie is being released alongside an album composed and recorded by Green. Adam Green's Aladdin is now available for rent and purchase through iTunes, Amazon Video-On-Demand and directly through www.adamgreensaladdin.com.

Filmed entirely on handmade paper-máche sets - 30 cardboard rooms and 500 props made all out of found phone books, newspapers, glue, and house-paint - Adam Green's Aladdin revolves around Aladdin's dysfunctional family, who live in an "regular" town ruled by a corrupt Sultan with a decadent socialite daughter. The film explores themes of technology, government repression, greed, and true-love.

The fantasy film stars an ensemble cast featuring some of New York's biggest arts, music, and film talent, including:

Adam Green - Aladdin

Macaulay Culkin - Ralph the Rebel Leader

Natasha Lyonne - Aladdin's Mom

Jack Dishel - Uncle Gary / Sultan

Alia Shawkat - Aladdin's sister

Francesco Clemente - The Genie

Har Mar Superstar - British Druggie Guy

Devendra Banhart - Saucemaker

Bip Ling - the Princess

Zoe Kravitz - Old MinerThe official trailer for Adam Green's Aladdin can be found here, the behind the scenes documentary here, a short clip about the film narrated by Jack Dishel as Uncle Gary here and press kit here. A Note from Adam Green: I am pleased as punch to announce that Adam Green's Aladdin is available for digital download and rental today in the US and Canada. It took four years to make it! I hope everybody on planet earth eventually sees it, maybe even twice! I was attracted to Aladdin because it's a love story about valuing people over unlimited material possessions. I wanted my Aladdin to be a movie about technology made out of cardboard. Putting out such a crazy movie and having people understand it is the greatest gift the world could give me. The amount of human kindness that has been shown to me during the making of this film, and the focus, empathy, and understanding that audiences have paid to interpreting it in the last 10 days since it premiered has restored my faith in humanity. Thanks, proud to be part of team human! x AG

And if you don't live in US/Canada fear not it will come out Worldwide May 12th!

About Adam Green Adam Green is renowned around the globe as one of music's most unique and prolific songwriting talents - his songs have been performed by artists as diverse as The Libertines, Carla Bruni, Kelly Willis, Dean & Britta, and Will Oldham. A New York native, Green was only 17-years-old when he recorded and released his first album. As part of the downtown antifolk scene at the end of the nineties, he made up one-half of The Moldy Peaches, who enjoyed belated mainstream success via the Grammy-winning, #1 Billboard Chart ranking soundtrack of the 2007 Academy Award-winning movie Juno. As a solo artist, Green has recorded nine albums, many of which have become cult hits. His 2005 record Gemstones went Gold in Europe.

His eruptive bursts of creativity have led him into the world of movies and visual arts - staging exhibitions across Europe and America, most recently at LISTE art fair in Basel. He also found himself writing/producing/directing and acting in The Wrong Ferarri (2010), a "screwball tragedy" which was the first feature film shot entirely on an iPhone. It has since been featured in the curriculum of NYU's Tisch Film School. Rolling Stone magazine described it as "Fellini on Ketamine."

In 2015 Adam began a collaboration with Mich Dulce making a line of hats inspired by his artwork and the ALADDIN movie. The designs incorporate elements from his HOUSEFACE symbolic alphabet, a group of reduced cubist pictographs gleaned from the facial features of the popular cartoon characters Garfield, Big Bird, and Elmo. In January of 2016, he will exhibit the art from Adam Green's ALADDIN at the Fondation Beyeler Museum in Basel, Switzerland.
