In an interview with today's Hollywood Reporter, American Idol runner up Crystal Bowersox talked about making her upcoming Broadway debut in the new musical ALWAYS... PATSY CLINE. Rehearsals for the new production are set to begin this May. The musical is based on a true story about the friendship between Cline and her most devoted fan, Louise Seger, which began when they met one night at the Esquire Ballroom outside of Houston.

The Idol alum revealed that she has been preparing for the iconic role of country legend Patsy Cline by reading and watching old films. She also has plans to work with an acting coach and will seek out help with her dancing skils.

The Season 9 finalist still has trouble believing that she will soon be appearing on the Great White Way. "A year ago I put it out there. I was having coffee with my manager and said: you know what? I'd love to do Broadway, not really taking it too seriously, and then she got a phone call. 'You are not going to believe this,' she said."

She continues, "I still kind of don't [know if] I wanted to be in the theater. I had a drama teacher who said a couple of things that deterred me and I didn't pursue it, but I'm glad the opportunity is here now. I've done a little bit of acting here and there. I sometimes have to do it in everyday life. I'm a mom, too, so I have to pretend to be cool all the time. It's just another role in my life and I hope I can do her justice."

In a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bowersox said of Cline, "I grew up listening to her music, as most of us have, and I feel a special connection to her. It's a tragic story and a great play and I'm really honored to be the one they chose to play Patsy."

Always...Patsy Cline includes many of Patsy's Unforgettable hits, including "Crazy," "I Fall to Pieces," "Sweet Dreams" and "Walking After Midnight", featuring 27 songs in all. The show's title was inspired by Patsy's hand-written letters to Louise, which she signed "Love Always...Patsy Cline."

Bowersox's other acting credits include an episode of ABC's "Burden of Proof". She is currently promoting her new release, "All That For This."
