ABC Family's PRETTY LITTLE LIARS Returns as No. 1 Cable TV Telecast in Key Demos

The season 5 premiere of social media darling "Pretty Little Liars" (8:00 - 9:00 p.m.), entitled 'EscApe From New York,' ranked as Tuesday's #1 scripted TV telecast in Women 18-34 (935,000/2.8 rating), Viewers 12-34 (1.8 million/2.0 rating) and Females 12-34 (1.6 million/3.5 rating) - behind only Game 3 of the NBA Finals on ABC - and as cable TV's #1 telecast in Adults 18-34 (1.1 million/1.6 rating), Adults 18-49 (1.4 million/1.1 rating) and Women 18-49 (1.2 million/1.9 rating). Further, "Pretty Little Liars" stood as Tuesday's #1 scripted cable TV telecast in Total Viewers (2.7 million).

Impressively, "Pretty Little Liars" stood as the #1 cable TV telecast in The Hour for its 96th-consecutive original telecast in Females 12-34 - every telecast since its June 2010 series launch - 48th in Adults 18-34, 55th in Women 18-34, 51st in Women 18-49 and 59th in Viewers 12-34.

Versus its winter/spring 14 average, "Pretty Little Liars" was up by solid margins, including by 13% among both Total Viewers (2.7 million vs. 2.4 million) and Viewers 12-34 (1.8 million vs. 1.6 million), by 11% in Women 18-34 (935,000 vs. 842,000) and by 14% in Females 12-34 (1.6 million vs. 1.4 million).

Based on full-week DVR viewing during its most recent winter/spring season, "Pretty Little Liars" soared by nearly 1.3 million Total Viewers to 3.7 million (vs. 2.4 million) and by nearly 1 million key demo viewers to 2.1 million Adults 18-49 (vs. 1.3 million) and to 2.5 million Viewers 12-34 (vs. 1.6 million).

"Pretty Little Liars" Social Media Twitter and Instagram Highlights:

Tuesday's most-tweeted series telecast, "Pretty Little Liars," ranked among the Top 5 most-tweeted scripted TV series telecasts year to date, amassing over 1 million Tweets, topping the recent season finale of AMC's "The Walking Dead" (see below). In fact, the series accounts for the Top 6 most-tweeted scripted TV series telecasts on record and 10 of the Top 13, with all 10 generating over 1 million tweets.

Moreover, last night's premiere became the drama's 4th premiere in a row to garner over 1 million tweets, and the show now claims half of the Top 20 most-tweeted TV series episodes ever, led by its Summer 2013 finale (8/27/13), still the #1 most-tweeted scripted telecast in TV history.

Further, a Twitter TV audience of 5.8 million people saw over 1 million Tweets about the season 5 premiere. Those Tweets were sent by 342,000 unique authors and generated over 43.9 million impressions.

On Instagram, launching at the top of the month on May 2, "Pretty Little Liars" has fast become the #1 most-followed scripted show with 644,000 followers, topping #2, "The Walking Dead's" 560,000 followers.

"Chasing Life"

Facing Game 3 of the NBA Finals on ABC across most of the country, "Chasing Life" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

qualified as cable TV's #1 telecast in The Hour in Adults 18-34 (478,000/0.7 rating), Women 18-34 (429,000/1.3 rating), Viewers 12-34 (784,000/0.8 rating) and Females 12-34 (728,000/1.6 rating).

"Chasing Life" out-delivered last summer's launch of "The Fosters" (6/10/13) among key demos: +7% in Adults 18-34 (478,000 vs. 445,000), +14% in Women 18-34 (429,000 vs. 376,000), +9% in Viewers 12-34 (784,000 vs. 719,000) and +14% in Females 12-34 (728,000 vs. 636,000).
