2014-15 PGA Tour Begins this Weekend on Golf Channel

NBC Sports Group is set to kick off the 2014-15 PGA TOUR season tomorrow with exclusive coverage of nine tournaments through the balance of 2014.

The 2014-15 PGA TOUR season starts with a clean slate as players begin the year-long quest to qualify for the 2015 FedExCup Playoffs. Live coverage of the Frys.com Open will air Thursday-Sunday from 5-8 p.m. ET from Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, Calif. GOLF CHANNEL ON NBC analyst and Hall-of-Famer Johnny Miller, one of the owners of Silverado, is serving as tournament honoree this week.

Golf Channel will continue with live coverage of all four rounds for the following six tournaments on the PGA TOUR schedule, including:

Shriners Hospitals for Children Open Thursday-Sunday (Oct. 16-19) 5-8 p.m. ET

The McGladrey Classic Thursday-Sunday (Oct. 23-26) 2-5 p.m. ET

CIMB Classic Wed.-Sat. (Oct. 29-Nov. 1) 11 p.m.- 3 a.m. ET

WGC-HSBC Champions Wednesday-Saturday (Nov. 5-8) 10 p.m.-3 a.m. ET

Sanderson Farms Championship Thursday-Sunday (Nov. 6-9) 2-5 p.m. ET

OHL Classic at Mayakoba Thursday-Sunday (Nov. 13-16) 2-5 p.m. ET

Golf Channel AND NBC TEAM UP IN DECEMBER FOR TIGER WOODS' RETURN TO COMPETITION: In December, Golf Channel and NBC will team up for live coverage of the Hero World Challenge, hosted by Tiger Woods, and the scheduled return of Woods to tournament competition. The Hero World Challenge, taking place at Isleworth Golf and Country Club in Orlando, Fla., will feature 18 of the PGA TOUR's top players competing in a 72-hole, stroke play event for a $1 million top prize. Golf Channel will air live coverage Thursday, Dec. 4 and Friday, Dec. 5, followed by weekend coverage on NBC, Saturday, Dec. 6 and Sunday, Dec. 7.

The PNC Father/Son Challenge - taking place at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club at Grande Lakes Resort in Orlando, Fla. - will wrap 2014 with a 20-team field made up of defending champions Stewart and Connor Cink, and 19 more of the game's greatest golfers and their son or daughter. Golf Channel and NBC will carry the two days of coverage, Saturday, Dec. 13 and Sunday, Dec. 14. Both events are unofficial events on the PGA TOUR schedule.

GOLF CHANNEL ON NBC TALENT FEATURED ON GOLF CHANNEL'S PGA TOUR COVERAGE: GOLF CHANNEL ON NBC analysts Peter Jacobsen, Gary Koch and Roger Maltbie will join Golf Channel's broadcast team during the first several events of the 2014-15 season. Maltbie will serve as lead analyst for the Frys.com Open; Jacobsen will be lead analyst for the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and Gary Koch will join the broadcast booth as lead analyst for the McGladrey Classic.

Golf Channel GOES INSIDE THE ROPES WITH PRO-AM SPECIALS: Golf Channel will air hour-long Pro-Am specials from the first three events on the 2014-15 PGA TOUR season - Frys.com Open, Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and the McGladrey Classic. The Pro-Am specials will take viewers inside the ropes with the players in the field as they prepare for competition and share instruction tips and insight with viewers.
