The Metropolitan Opera's exclusive subscription streaming service, Met Opera on Demand, has expanded its reach with the release of a new streaming channel on the Roku platform. Owners of Roku players and Roku TVTM models will now be able to use Met Opera on Demand through their televisions, allowing easy access to the Met's vast archive of performances on home entertainment systems.

Met Opera on Demand, also available to subscribers on personal computers, iPad, or AppleTV via AirPlay, gives opera lovers instant access to high-quality streams of 550 performances from the Met's broadcast history. New content is added monthly, from classic historical performances to recent Live in HD transmissions featuring the biggest stars of today's opera world. Live in HD titles are typically added to the service three to six months after their premieres in movie theaters.

The Met Opera on Demand catalog currently contains 86 selections from the company's groundbreaking Live in HD series, which uses multiple cameras, advanced technology, and innovative direction to capture the excitement and power of live opera. The series' popular intermission features, which take viewers behind the scenes for exclusive interviews with the stars of each production, are included with each title. Recent titles available on the service include last season's broadcast performances of Macbeth, starring Anna Netrebko; The Merry Widow, with Renée Fleming in the title role and Tony winner Kelli O'Hara in her Met debut; Il Barbiere di Siviglia, with Isabel Leonard and Lawrence Brownlee; and Wagner's epic comedy Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg.

Met Opera on Demand subscribers can also access historic telecasts featuring legendary stars like Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo, Joan Sutherland, and Leontyne Price. 74 historical video performances are currently available, with more added regularly.

All videos include English subtitles and many HD videos offer titles in French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Swedish.

394 historical audio performances are also available through Met Opera on Demand. Digitally remastered audio streams allow users to immerse themselves in historic Met performances. The archive offers live recordings of many of the greatest opera singers of the last century, including Jussi Björling, Maria Callas, Montserrat Caballé, Franco Corelli, Lauritz Melchior, Birgit Nilsson, Jessye Norman, Rosa Ponselle, Eleanor Steber, Risë Stevens, and Richard Tucker, in some of their most acclaimed Met performances.

A subscription is required to access Met Opera on Demand, priced at $14.99 a month, and new users can enjoy a free 7-day trial with access on all available platforms and devices. For more information, including an online catalogue of offerings, please visit www.metoperaondemand.org.
