Leah Tehrani and Anthony Caputo Headline Enrico Caruso Room, 7/31

Soprano Leah Tehrani and tenor Anthony Caputo will perform at the Enrico Caruso Room on Tuesday, July 31, at 8 PM as part of the venue's Tuesday Night Opera Series. They will be supported on keyboard by David Schaefer.

Dinner is available from 7 PM. There is a $20 cover charge and no food or drink minimum. The Enrico Caruso Room (www.enricocarusoroomnyc.com) is located in Grotta Azzurra Ristorante at 177 Mulberry Street in Little Italy. Reservations are suggested by calling Grotta Azzurra at 212-925-8775.

A native of Toronto, Leah Tehrani moved to New York City to pursue her singing career. She attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, has graduated from the Internship Affiliate Program at Broadway Dance Center, and was a student at The Juilliard School. She also completed her studies at Mannes College of Music.

Leah has performed on numerous occasions with the New York Grand Opera, including Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera at Central Park's Summer Stage and Verdi's Requiem at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Maestro Vincent La Selva, with whom she has also studied privately. Leah has also played the role of Cassie in A Chorus Line at the Colleen Dewhurst Theater in Mt. Kisco New York. She studied opera in Siena, Italy, at the Senese Per La Musica.

Leah Tehrani is also the Soprano and Artistic Director at New York City's Metropolitan Synagogue where she sings at the synagogue's weekly services, special events and on the holidays. As a result of her classical background, Leah is adept at singing in many different languages including English, French. German and Italian. as well as in Farsi, Yiddish and Ladino.

Leah also dedicates a great deal of her time to what she regards as a very important mission: Performing fund raising concerts across North America as a soloist raising thousands of dollars for victims of suicide terrorist attacks in Israel, most recently headlining a concert for Magen David Adom in Toronto, Canada. She has performed with the Folksbiene Yiddish Theater in New York City and was featured as a soloist under the direction of Zalmen Mlotek. She also is a member of a trio called Ashirawhich tours North America, performing both secular and non-secular music and services. Leah recently performed her first cabaret show My Life in Music before a sold-out audience at the Laurie Beechman Theater in Manhattan. She also recently joined the NY Friars Club.

Tenor Anthony Caputo, a native of New York City, recently completed his Graduate work at SUNY Purchase College Conservatory of Music where he studied under the tutelage of Jacque Trussel. Operatic highlights from Anthony' time at Purchase include: Balthazar and Melchior in Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors, Antonio in Mozart's La Nozze di Figaro, Mercurio in Monteverdi's L'Incoronazione di Poppea, Prince Ferdinand in the East Coast Premiere of Holby's The Tempest, Father Francis in the World Premiere of Lucas' Confession, Pappageno in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Le Directeur in Poulenc's Les Mamelles de Tiresias, Escamillo in Bizet's Carmen and Pandolfe in Massenet's Cendrillon.

In 2008, Albany Records recorded The Tempest by Lee Holby, on which Anthony sang the Principal role of Prince Ferdinand, in conjunction with the release of the opera. The following year, Anthony made his New York City singing debut in the same role at Symphony Space in a condensed version of the opera. He also performed in a "Salon Series" promoting the recording of The Tempest at Opera America later that year. The performances of The Tempest were televised on NBC as well. In the spring of 2010, Anthony was a featured singer in a Master Class given by the world renowned Bass-Baritone Samuel Ramey. The following spring, he performed the role of Florestan in Gretry's Richard Coeur-de-Lion with the American Classical Orchestra in Manhattan. This year, the Ash Lawn Opera Festival accepted Anthony as one of the Young Artists to perform at its Summer Festival with director Bayoork Lee, David Paul and Maestro Steve Jarvi.

The Enrico Caruso Room was dedicated in April of this year in Little Italy's historic Grotta Azzurra Ristorante which first opened its doors in 1908. It soon became a favorite eatery for the legendary Neapolitan tenor Enrico Caruso who often dined – and sang – in this very same room. The walls are decorated with memorabilia from the Enrico Caruso Museum of America in Brooklyn which was donated by the museum's founder and curator Cav. Aldo Mancusi.
