The RRazz Room Welcomes Veronica Klaus' THE PEGGY LEE SONGBOOK, 8/24-25

The RRazz Room, San Francisco's premier nightclub, presents the return of San Francisco chanteuse Veronica Klaus with an encore of her critically acclaimed show featuring the music of Peggy Lee. The two shows, on August 24 and 25 at 10:00 PM, will help celebrate her new CD "Something Cool."

Veronica's keen sensibility and eclectic taste guarantee an evening of intriguing musical selections, encompassing a broad range of material from jazz and pop to originals and obscure gems. Klaus crafts an evening of music with selections like Rodgers & Hart's "Lover," "I Lost My Sugar in Salt Lake City," "Moments Like This," and "Fever." The Tammy Hall Trio provides accompaniment with the Hall's multi-dynamic piano mastery, Daniel Fabricant's bass providing swinging jazz to Latin licks and Kent Bryson's tuneful timely drums and percussion.

VERONICA KLAUS is poised to record a new CD (her first in seven years) that will capture the exciting music and artistry of her acclaimed performances. She recently concluded her two-year residency on Tuesday nights at the legendary North Beach club Enrico's in 2009 and 2010. Something Cool will be Veronica's third CD officially released CD to date, including her debut CD in 1997 titled All I Want, which earned her a NYC GLAMA Award nomination for "Female Artist of the Year" and her 2006 live release Live at The Lodge.

Klaus has garnered many accolades over the years, including an San Francisco Weekly Whammie Award for "Best Blues/R&B" a Cable Car Award, an San Francisco Guardian title "Best Chanteuse" and a coveted opening gig for the legendary Ohio Players. A San Francisco resident since 1986, Veronica Klaus grew up in Gillespie Illinois, home of Black Diamond Days, the original festival of coal-population 3200-in a large middle class family, the youngest of 5 children. While earning a degree in music education at the University of Illinois, she began to diligently search out recordings of jazz and blues artists such as Etta James, Etta Jones, Aretha Franklin, Jimmy Scott, Billy Holliday, Bettye Lavette, Dinah Washington, Ruth Brown, Varetta Dillard, Julia Lee, Martha Davis, and Nellie Lucher.

Veronica, along with co-writer and director Jeffrey Hartgraves created the critically acclaimed "Family Jewels – The Making of Veronica Klaus" a full-length theatrical one-woman autobiographical theater piece with stories and songs, some original, elaborating with humor, poignancy and insight on her life, growing up, transition, and becoming an artist with its romance and heartbreak.
