Spivey Hall Children's Choir Announces 2013-14 Season
The Spivey Hall Children's Choir Program at Clayton State University, which has been providing exemplary choral music education to young singers since 1994, is pleased to announce its 2013-2014 season. This season marks the 20th Anniversary of this distinguished program, and features a stellar line-up of opportunities for the public to see live performances highlighting the program's three renowned choirs. A complete listing of events, concerts, and information on how children can audition to be a part of this program can be found below. More information is available online at spiveyhallchildrenschoir.org.
The Spivey Hall Children's Choir Program was founded in 1994 to provide supplementary music education to metro-Atlanta youth. Under the direction of Martha Shaw, the program has grown to over 160 competitively selected members, ages 10-18, in three choirs.
Hundreds of children from 17 counties in Georgia have been exposed to professional-quality instruction in all aspects of vocal production, musicianship, and choral performance, and have also benefitted from the program's emphasis on helping young people develop self-reliance, personal integrity, responsibility, compassion, and confidence.
As cultural ambassadors of the State of Georgia, the Spivey Hall Tour Choir has recorded four professional CDs and performed in the United States, Canada, Sweden, Norway, England, Austria, the Czech Republic, China and Scotland. This past summer the singers performed at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina.
