The most provocative risk taker of today's jazz divas, René heats things up in her tribute to the divine Eartha Kitt. The show features both well-known and obscure gems from the saucy Kitt repertoire including "C'est Si Bon," "Come On To My House," "Peel Me A Grape," and more.

RENÉ MARIE is a songwriter and jazz vocalist who began her professional music career at age 42. In 1998, she self-released her debut album Renaissance and toured as Ella Fitzgerald in a regional play. Marie signed a contract with Maxjazz label and released four albums with them. Her third album Vertigo was awarded a coronet ranking by The Penguin Guide to Jazz, a distinction given to less than 85 other recordings in jazz history. She began experiencing a whirlwind of success rarely seen in the jazz world, winning over critic, receiving awards such as the Best International Jazz Vocal CD by France's Académie du Jazz, gracing the Billboard charts multiple times, and becoming a headliner at major international festivals. Marie also wrote, produced and performed a one-woman show of words and music called Slut Energy Theory - U'Dean, where she explores one woman's journey from sexual abuse to self-esteem. A gifted songwriter, her previous Motéma release, Black Lace Freudian Slip, features blues-heavy originals. Her label debut, Voice of My Beautiful Country, is an ambitious celebration of Americana and a striking display of her incredible ability to forge connections between songs most would never think to merge.

For René Marie, success means shining attention on important issues in America and on bold artists like Eartha Kitt who helped change America's landscape for the better. Most recently, Marie released the album I Wanna Be Evil (With Love to Eartha Kitt).
