Nielsen, a leading global provider of information and insights into what consumers watch and buy, will host a GRAMMY® Awards celebration on Saturday, January 25th, 2014, at Mondrian Los Angeles. The party, a first for Nielsen, will bring together guests across media, brands, and entertainment fêting their unique connection.
The evening will feature live entertainment from critically acclaimed, nine-time GRAMMY® Award winning singer-songwriter John Legend. Having begun his career performing piano and vocals on tracks for such artists as Lauryn Hill, Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Alicia Keys, Legend released his debut album, Get Lifted, in 2004. It sold over two million copies and scored Legend multiple GRAMMY® Awards. Its follow-up, 2006's platinum-selling Once Again, won Legend another GRAMMY®. His third release was 2008's Evolver, led by the hit single, "Green Light," featuring Andre 3000. Legend released his highly anticipated fourth solo studio album, Love In The Future in September 2013.
"This is the first time we have hosted a GRAMMY® party and look forward to celebrating the connection of media, brands and entertainment," says Howard Appelbaum, President, Nielsen Entertainment. "We are excited to be celebrating music's biggest night with such amazing artists and a spectacular environment."
The evening's other entertainers are New Orleans' Preservation Hall Jazz Band. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band derives its name from Preservation Hall, the venerable music venue located in the heart of New Orleans' French Quarter, founded in 1961 by Allan and Sandra Jaffe. The band travels worldwide fulfilling their philosophy to nurture and perpetuate the art form of New Orleans Jazz. Many of the band's charter members performed with the pioneers who invented jazz in the early twentieth century including Buddy Bolden, Jelly Roll Morton and Louis Armstrong. Now moving into their sixth decade, PHJB broke new ground in 2013 with That's It!, a record that will go down in history as their first album of entirely original material, which was produced by band leader Ben Jaffe and My Morning Jacket lead singer Jim James.
