Miley Cyrus has been voted the Best U.S. Act for the "2013 MTV EMA," having received the most votes from fans. Starting today, Cyrus now moves on to face Best Canadian Act winner Justin Bieber to try to secure a spot to represent the North America region in the Worldwide Act category at the "2013 MTV EMA" broadcasting Sunday, November 10th at 7:00PM ET/PT in the US.* The "2013 MTV EMA" is sponsored in the U.S. by 5 Gum, LG Mobile, Herbal Essences, Taco Bell and T-Mobile. MTV will announce additional EMA performers and presenters at a later date.
From now until October 31st, fans can vote for their favorite regional act on www.mtvema.com and do their part to help them reach the next round. The representative for North America will be announced on November 1st, along with the other regional winners. These 10 regional nominees will then battle for votes for the Worldwide Act distinction, and the winner will be named at the show in Amsterdam. "The Worldwide Act segment is a clear example of how the MTV EMAs has evolved from a pan-Euro focused show into a truly global event celebrating the year's biggest music artists. Fans around the world are able to vote for their favorite local music heroes and ultimately drive the results," said Bruce Gillmer, Executive Vice President of Talent and Music Programming/Events, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN). Outside the US, the "2013 MTV EMA" will broadcast live Sunday, November 10th at 9:00PM CET*.
