Grammy winner Robert Cray performs his only Illinois concert this season in An Evening with Robert Cray at Metropolis Performing Arts Centre on June 8, 2015.

Robert Cray is widely recognized as one of the greatest guitarists of our time. The New Yorker recently called him "one of the most reliable pleasures of soul and blues for over three decades now." He has written or performed with everyone from Eric Clapton to Stevie Ray Vaughan, from Bonnie Raitt to John Lee Hooker, and in 2011, he was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame.

With his seventeenth studio album, In My Soul, the five-time Grammy winner (and 15-time nominee) reasserts his position as one of his generation's great musical storytellers -- this time steeped in the down-home sound and rich emotion of Southern Soul, yet never straying far from his incomparable guitar mastery. Produced by Steve Jordan, whose long list of credits includes extensive work with Keith Richards and John Mayer, the album blends funky originals with surprising covers, and captures a new configuration of the Robert Cray Band: long-time bass player Richard Cousins is joined by keyboardist Dover Weinberg (returning to the group, with which he played in the 1970s and '80s) as well as new drummer Les Falconer.

An Evening with Robert Cray will be exclusively at Metropolis on June 8, 2015 at 7:30 P.M. Tickets are $65, Stage Tables $75. All tickets can be purchased at MetropolisArts.com or by calling the Box Office at 847.577.2121.

An Evening with Robert Cray is part of the Live Music Series at Metropolis, which brings some of the highest level musical talent to the Chicagoland area. More Live Music shows include: Artists Lounge Live featuring Heidi Kettenring. Other upcoming shows include A Conversation with Grant and Twain, Ken Ludwig's comedy Moon Over Buffalo, and the Tony Award-winning musical Monty Python's Spamalot.

Metropolis thanks its generous media partner Tribune Media Group. Metropolis is partially supported by a grant from Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.

Metropolis is located in the heart of Chicago's northwest suburbs in downtown Arlington Heights at the intersection of Campbell and Vail Avenue (111 West Campbell Street). Street parking is available. Free parking is available in the public garage behind the theatre. For more information about Metropolis and a list of upcoming events visit MetropolisArts.com or call the Box Office at 847.577.2121.
