Lynyrd Skynyrd to Perform New Song on THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH CRAIG FERGUSON Tonight

Southern rock icon Lynyrd Skynyrd will perform the title track "Last of a Dyin' Breed" off their new album for the first time on late night television on THE LATE LATE SHOW with Craig Ferguson Monday, October 1 (12:37-1:37 AM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Debuting at #14 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart, Last of a Dyin' Breed is Lynyrd Skynyrd's highest-charting album since 1977. The band is currently touring across North America.

With a catalog of more than 60 albums, sales beyond 30 million worldwide and their beloved classic American rock anthem "Sweet Home Alabama" having more than two million downloaded ringtones, Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Lynyrd Skynyrd remain a cultural icon that appeals to all generations. Led by core members Gary Rossington (guitar), Johnny Van Zant (vocals) and Rickey Medlock (guitar), Lynyrd Skynyrd continues the tremendous legacy that began more than 35 years ago in Jacksonville, Fla. Their legacy was halted for a decade after the 1977 plane crash that killed three band members, including Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines. Since then, the band tragically lost Billy Powell, Ean Evans, Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson and Huey Thomasson, yet they continue to forge ahead. Rounding out the new lineup is bass player Johnny Colt, an original member of the Black Crowes who recently joined the band, Mark "Sparky" Matejka on guitar, Peter Keys on keyboards, and Dale Krantz Rossington and Carol Chase as the Honkettes, the band's backing vocalists.

Actor Ethan Hawke will also visit THE LATE LATE SHOW on Oct. 1.

THE LATE LATE SHOW with Craig Ferguson regularly airs weeknights (12:37-1:37 AM, ET/PT) following broadcasts of the "Late Show with David Letterman" on CBS. THE LATE LATE SHOW is executive produced by Peter Lassally and is a 2009 Peabody Award recipient.
