MTV and Katy Perry today announced that the megastar hitmaker will perform her newly released single "Roar," live for the very first time during the 2013 "MTV Video Music Awards." In celebration of the single's release and the forthcoming performance, MTV Hits, MTV's 24-hour music channel, will feature an hour block of Katy performances and music videos from 2-3pm ET/PT tomorrow (August 13).

No stranger to the VMAs stage, Perry has won four MTV Video Music Awards, including the highly-coveted, "Video of the Year" for her #1 worldwide smash-hit, "Firework," and performed her hit "I Kissed a Girl" at the 2008 show as well as a stellar cover of Queen's rock anthem "We Will Rock You" with Aerosmith's Joe Perry in 2009.

Katy has become a VMA fan favorite and is set to thrill fans once again as she delivers the world premiere performance of her new single, "Roar" released earlier today from her forthcoming album, PRISM set for release on Tuesday, October 22.

Pepsi is an official presenting sponsor of the 2013 "MTV Video Music Awards." The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Brooklyn on August 25th at 9:00pm ET/PT.
