The Luminato Festival has announced that the legendary Joni Mitchell has confirmed she will perform on stage on both evenings of JONI: A PORTRAIT IN SONG - A BIRTHDAY HAPPENING LIVE AT MASSEY HALL while in Toronto as part of the 7th Annual Luminato Festival. Previously, the Festival announced she was confirmed to attend.

Joni Mitchell has announced she will recite a new poem with musical accompaniment by her long- time drummer and collaborator, singer-songwriter Brian Blade, and trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire (winner of the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition and the Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition).

"The fact that Joni will now be joining all of the wonderful musicians and singers on stage at Massey Hall to recite a new poem that she wrote is more than a dream come true. It is a dream I did not even have when first talking to her. It shows how connected she is to Toronto and Canada and what a wonderful spirit she is," said Jorn Weisbrodt, Luminato's Artistic Director.

Unfortunately, Chaka Khan just announced the cancellation of her June concerts, including her participation in the Joni Mitchell tribute, due to extended vocal rest ordered by her doctor.

JONI: A PORTRAIT IN SONG - A BIRTHDAY HAPPENING LIVE AT MASSEY HALL is presented by Sun Life Financial with support from Slaight Music
