Frankie Avalon to Play the Drury Lane Theatre, 5/19-20

Chart-topping 50's and 60's superstar Frankie Avalon will entertain audiences at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane, for two performances only on Monday, May 19 at 1:30 p.m. and Tuesday, May 20 at 1:30 p.m. Avalon will perform his greatest hits including "Venus," "Why," "De De Dinah," "Gingerbread," "Cupid," and "Beauty School Dropout." Drury Lane Theatre will also offer audiences a lunch and concert option at its acclaimed dining room.

A brilliant, young performer and musician, Frankie Avalon started his career in Philadelphia in the 1950's in local TV talent contests. After an appearance on Dick Clark's teen dance show "New American Bandstand," Avalon quickly became America's teenage idol and had a long string of Gold Record singles and albums. His smash hits include "Venus" and "Why," which skyrocketed to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Avalon had 31 charted BillboardU.S. singles from 1958 to late 1962, including "Just Ask Your Heart" (U.S. #7), "I'll Wait For You" (U.S. #15), "Bobby Sox to Stockings" (U.S. #8), and "A Boy Without a Girl" (U.S. #10.) Avalon has also starred in over 30 successful motion pictures. He and Annette Funicello starred in a number of popular "beach" comedy movies including Beach Party and Beach Blanket Bingo, and his role as "Teen Angel" in the smash hit film Grease introduced him to a new generation of fans. Avalon is currently one of the busiest nightclub performers in the country and frequently performs to sold-out crowds in Las Vegas, Miami Beach and New York City. In 1995, he was inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Frankie Avalon will perform on Monday, May 19 at 1:30 p.m. and Tuesday, May 20 at 1:30 p.m. at Drury Lane Theatre. Single tickets are $65. Show and meal tickets are $80.
