The 1st Annual Rahway Bands and Brews festival will bring a choice selection of independent beer and independent music to downtown Rahway on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 from 1:30-6:30 p.m.

Rahway Bands and Brews takes place in an open-air setting on Irving Street across from the downtown Rahway train station and features 10 area rock bands and more than a dozen craft beers from national brewers. Food trucks and arts and crafts vendors will add to the festival feel.

Rahway Bands and Brews is presented by the Rail House Bar, 1443 Irving Street in Rahway, as a fundraiser for Union County Performing Arts Center. Advance tickets are $10 and can be bought online at www.rahwaybandsandbrews.com; admission is $12 day of the festival.

"UCPAC has hosted an incredible number of unique performers over the years," says Rail House Bar proprietor Larry Fishman. "We wanted to honor that legacy and get people to hear a sample of the musical creativity happening in Rahway right now."

Featured brewery sponsors are Lagunitas (California), Smuttynose (New Hampshire), Abita (Louisiana) and Founders (Michigan). Several brewery representatives will be on hand to answer questions and share his extensive craft beer knowledge, including Aaron Kesselman of Whitehouse Station's Hunterdon Brewing Company. Emceed by Khalil Kairos, two sound stages will offer continuous live music all afternoon courtesy of Graveyard Lovers, The Ugly Club, DEVI, The Downrights, Modern Chemistry, XNY, The Rooftop, Brien McVernon and the Blackouts, Gay Guy/Straight Guy and Harley Black.
