ATO Records releases Patty Griffin's album 1000 Kisses on vinyl for the first time today. Originally released on April 7th 2002, the record was a milestone in Griffin's career and the first of four albums via ATO. It earned a Grammy® nomination for 'Best Contemporary Folk Album' and went on to sell 150,000 copies in the U.S.

Described as "unforgettably luminous music" by Entertainment Weekly, the limited edition vinyl will include a 7.5" 16 page lyric book, with original art for each track. Pre-order it HERE.

Griffin's official 3rd album, Silver Bells, was held hostage in a typical post 90's major label vice of mergers, layoffs, and uncertainty about what to do with an actual artist. With the album on the shelf indefinitely (it eventually saw the light in 2013), Griffin was free to follow her instincts creatively. During that same period of time her guitarist Doug Lancio was building an informal home studio in his Nashville basement and suggested she come by to do some recording for fun.

Griffin told Billboard at the time: "I had all these songs that got passed over for other records because they weren't obvious pop songs... so I said to Doug, 'Why don't we co-produce my next record?'"

Griffin though summed it up best in 2002, saying: "In a way, it's a brave record, because it's kind of uncool. This record is Doug and me, two people who never produced a record before, just feeling it out, piecing it together, not really having a clue. I think I'm proud of us."
