'The Hurt Locker' Sweeps National Society of Film Critics Awards; Other Winners Revealed

As previously reported, the National Society of Film Critics has selected the Iraq war drama 'The Hurt Locker' as its pick for Best Picture of the Year. The film also earned Kathryn Bigelow an award for best direction, as well as the award for best actor for Jeremy Renner.

'The Hurt Locker' follows a United States Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal team during the Iraq War. The story was written by Mark Boal, a freelance writer who was embedded with a bomb squad. 'The Hurt Locker' stars Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, and Brian Geraghty.

Other National Society of Film Critics Honors for 2010 include:

Best picture: "The Hurt Locker"

Best actress: Yolande Moreau, "Seraphine"

Best actor: Jeremy Renner, "The Hurt Locker"

Best supporting actor: Christoph Waltz, "Inglourious Basterds", and Paul Schneider "Bright Star"

Best supporting actress: Mo'Nique, "Precious"

Best director: Kathryn Bigelow, "The Hurt Locker"

Best screenplay: Joel and Ethan Coen, "A Serious Man"

Best foreign-language film: "Summer Hours"

Best nonfiction film: "The Beaches of Agnes"

Best cinematography: Christian Berger, "The White Ribbon"

Best production design: Nelson Lowry, "Fantastic Mr. Fox"
