The eighteen minute short was written by Owen Rixon & Callum Barton, produced by Siggy Stone and directed by Owen Rixon. The trailer for the film can be viewed here - https://youtu.be/G2rrjn_D94A. Further information on the film can be found at www.toonocalypse.com.

Toonocalypse has been described as "'Cloverfield' meets 'Roger Rabbit'" (Campbell, 2014) due to its unique combination of live-action handheld footage and 2D animation. Toonocalypse is set in Edinburgh and follows two students who document the arrival of cute, cartoon aliens to Earth, but after a year, the pair discover the true intention of the alien's visit.

The film is Owen's second short film to be nominated for a McLaren award after his graduation film, Welcome to Twister was nominated in 2009.
